Vaughan residents - here’s what you need to know about the new Blue Box Program starting January 1 👇

Ontario is shifting to a producer-responsibility system, which means Circular Materials Ontario (CMO) will take over recycling for packaging and paper products.

What stays the same right now:
✔️ Your collection day does NOT change
✔️ Keep using your existing blue box ….no need to replace it
✔️ The City of Vaughan will still handle garbage, green bins, yard waste and bulky items

What may change later (starting 2026):
➡️ New rules on what materials can be recycled
➡️ How to replace or order new blue boxes (no longer through the City)
➡️ Province-wide recycling standards set by Circular Materials

For now, just keep recycling exactly as you are.
We’ll share updates as the City of Vaughan releases more info.
