🗺️ Want my FREE Isle of Skye travel guide with an itinerary, a map with over 160 pins of landmarks, restaurants, cafes, bars, & photo spots, and tons of travel tips to help make planning your trip to Skye easier?
👉Just follow .wanders and comment “GUIDE” on this post, and I’ll send it to you! (make sure you have the setting “allow message requests from everyone” turned on for it to work!)
🏴 If you’re planning on visiting the Isle of Skye in Scotland for the first time in 2026, make sure you save this itinerary so that you don’t miss seeing any of these beautiful spots!
⛰️ The Trotternish peninsula is the northernmost peninsula on the Isle of Skye, and is home to some of the most well-known and breathtaking landscapes on the island such as the iconic Old Man of Storr, and the breathtaking Quiraing.
🥾If you’re planning to do any hiking during your trip make sure you come prepared with enough water, good hiking footwear, and insulating + windproof layers in case the weather takes a turn for the worse, (which is all too common on Skye!)
📸 If you aren’t going to do any hiking, then it is possible to drive the entire Trotternish loop in half a day and just stop briefly at each point for some sightseeing and photo ops. However if you have the time I highly recommend giving yourself an entire day to explore this area, otherwise you’ll be missing out on some beautiful views!
🏰 Be sure to check the opening dates and times for Dunvegan Castle before planning your trip, as it closes to the public for the winter season! In 2026 the opening dates are April 1 - October 15. It takes approximately half an hour to drive from Portree to Dunvegan Castle, and then another half an hour onwards from Dunvegan to Neist Point.
