PABLO CARDENAS PRESENTS MUSICAL PORTRAITS OF CUBA
Cuban pianist Pablo Cardenas and his band invite you to an evening of Cuban music on Friday August 29. The evening will includes classical compositions of Cuban composers including Paquito D’Rivera, Ernesto Grenet and Ernesto Lecuona. These classics will include the best of Afro-Cuban jazz. Guest musician Rachel Cooper from England will also join Pablo for this special evening at Hermann’s Jazz Club. The show starts at 7pm. Tickets are $30. Hermann’s is located at 753 View Street. 15th ANNUAL LATIN AMERICAN AND SPANISH FILM WEEK
Get ready for the upcoming 15th annual Latin American and Spanish Film Week taking place from September 16 to 21 at the UVic Cinecenta Theatre. This year’s festival will feature quality films from various Spanish speaking countries including: Cuba, Spain, Nicaragua, Argentina and Panama. There will also be an evening of live music A Night of Cuban Rhythms featuring Adonis Puentes and others musician on Sunday September 21st at the UVic Philip Young Recital Hall. El pianista cubano Pablo Cárdenas y su banda los invitan a una velada de música cubana el viernes 29 de agosto. La velada incluirá composiciones clásicas de compositores cubanos como Paquito D'Rivera, Ernesto Grenet y Ernesto Lecuona. Estos clásicos incluirán lo mejor del jazz afrocubano. La artista invitada Rachel Cooper, de Inglaterra, también acompañará a Pablo en esta velada especial en el Hermann's Jazz Club. El espectáculo comienza a las 7 p. m. Las entradas cuestan $30. 15.ª SEMANA DE CINE LATINOAMERICANO Y ESPAÑOL
Prepárense para la 15.ª Semana de Cine Latinoamericano y Español, que se celebrará del 16 al 21 de septiembre en la Sala Cinecenta de la UVic. Este año, el festival presentará películas de calidad de diversos países hispanohablantes, como Cuba, España, Nicaragua, Argentina y Panamá.
