Rob Wood has lived a life full of adventure. He's been a professional architect, pioneering mountaineer, organizer of ocean-to-alpine expeditions, wilderness instructor at Strathcona Park Lodge & Outdoor Education Centre, founding member of the protest group Friends of Strathcona Park, an author, and most recently, the subject of the documentary film The Zone.

In the early 1970s Rob established himself as an impressive climber; completing numerous first ascents on Baffin Island, in Strathcona Park, and in Yosemite, while also pioneering ice climbing in the Canadian Rockies.

You can learn more about Rob in his books At Home in Nature: A Life of Unknown Mountains and Deep Wilderness (2017) and The Zone: Rediscovering Our Natural Self (2022) πŸ”πŸƒπŸ“–

"In a world where outdoor adventure narratives have long been dominated by white male voices, Flow: Women’s Counternarratives from Rivers, Rock, and Sky delivers a long-overdue disruption. Curated by Denisa KrΓ‘snΓ‘ and Alena Rainsberry β€”two women with a deep-rooted love for adventuringβ€”Flow is a powerful collection that carves out space for women, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds, to tell their stories on their own terms."

A big thank you to explore and Dania Rashid for the awesome review of Flow! 😁πŸ₯³πŸ™Œ

Explore the diversity of women’s outdoor sports through narratives that capture empowerment and challenge stereotypes

"The combination of epic and grandeur is an apt and poignant way to sum up the rare and unique photographs in The Canadian Rockies: Rediscoveredβ€”there can be not a shade of doubt that Paul has certainly rediscovered the Rockies in a way none have yet done and those who sit with this bounty of pure gold photography will, necessarily so, see the Rockies again in a new way..."

On Friday, February 13, 1998, Paul Pritchard was seriously injured after being struck by a falling boulder while climbing the iconic Totem Pole in Tasmania. He suffered a traumatic brain injury, resulting in hemiplegia that affects movement on his right side and impacts his speech and memory.

Doctors told Paul he would never climb again. He had to learn how to walk and talk again and was in a wheelchair for nine months. Did that stop him? Nope! Less than 2 years after the accident he tackled a small hill in Wales (this took a few hours). Five years later, he climbed Mt. Kenya, and two years after that, he climbed Kilimanjaro with an all-disabled team. In 2016, he conquered the Totem Pole πŸŒ„

Paul's memoir, The Longest Climb, is available from your local bookstores and online! πŸ‘‰ www.rmbooks.com/products/the-longest-climb
