Today we are throwing it back to this custom-built home on Vancouver Island that was thoughtfully constructed around a Garry Oak meadow and evolved into a masterclass in contrast and craftsmanship.

Every inch of the lot has been meticulously transformed—its challenges turned into design opportunities. The shifting shadows of the oaks dance across bold materials like metal, cedar, and concrete, while inside, warm elegance softens the modern edge with refined finishes.

Tucked between the end of a suburban street and the raw edge of the coastline on Vancouver Island, this home holds space for both tradition and transformation.

Featured in both Dwell Magazine and Nuvo Magazine, this 2215-square-foot home is nestled in the forest of BC’s Sunshine Coast.

Special attention was given to working closely with the clients, a landscape designer and welding fabricator, who wanted a modern house with minimal detailing that would age well and feel like a cozy home in the forest.
