Rosehill House interior: set between two rock formations, this sculptural residence is a lesson in material integrity—stone, concrete, glass, wood and hemp-fibre and lime-cement block construction forming the foundation of the design.

Bridging nature and innovation, this 6000-square-foot home rests between two rock outcroppings at the edge of a regional park on Vancouver Island.

Designed for avid environmentalists who envisioned a life fully integrated with the land, the home is built with hemp-lime block, concrete and stone instead of traditional wood frame construction.

Roof-mounted photovoltaics and a shallow geothermal field below the gardens collect energy for battery storage and use. Aluminum-clad, wood framed windows and doors are triple glazed to achieve Passive House performance.

From September 25–28th/2025, the Interior Design Show (IDS) Vancouver returns to Vancouver Convention Centre West as Western Canada’s largest design event.

Featuring both Canadian and international talent, IDS gives visitors a global outlook on the future of design. This year’s program focuses on the role of hospitality in shaping our lives and work and celebrates the West Coast’s leadership in circularity, accessibility, and craft.

Howe Sound House >>
Perched on the edge of the majestic Howe Sound fjords just northwest of Vancouver, this 6,480 sf single-family home is shaped by its dramatic landscape.

A steep, narrow site with a creek along the south side guided the design, while a circulation path connects the top of the property—where trains pass by—to the waterfront below with its private boat ramp.

The project includes the main residence, a secondary suite and a three-car garage.

Inside, the primary living space crowns the upper level, while the main living spaces, entry and suite occupy the heart of the home.

The lower floor offers additional bedrooms and a media room, all designed to embrace both the mountains and the sea.
