What if intimacy wasn’t something to get right… but something to feel into?

In this episode, I sit down with Maci Daye to explore a different approach to intimacy—one rooted in presence, embodiment, and gentle curiosity. ✨

Maci is an AASECT-certified s*x therapist, author of Passion and Presence, and an international teacher whose work blends somatic psychology, neuroscience, and modern s*x therapy. Her perspective invites us to move away from pressure and performance, and instead reconnect with our bodies, our desires, and each other.

Rather than viewing challenges in intimacy as problems to fix, Maci reframes them as invitations—into deeper awareness, connection, and aliveness.

This is who you’re trusting to hold space for your healing.

Long before the training, the titles, and the therapy room, there was just a little girl learning about connection, safety, and the human heart.

In many ways, the work we do in therapy is simply helping the younger parts of ourselves feel seen again.

My inner child recognizes yours. 🤍

Hi, I’m Angela.
I’m a person-centred, body-oriented, trauma-informed therapist with 16 years of experience walking alongside people as they process trauma, reconnect with themselves, and explore new possibilities for their lives, including reclaiming their s*xual selves :)

Roughly 70% of therapy clients carry some form of trauma — even if they don’t come in naming it. Trauma is far more common than we realize, quietly shaping how we relate, trust, and move through the world.

I often think of trauma like winter in the nervous system. Protective. Cold. Sometimes frozen just beneath the surface.

PTSD isn’t a flaw — it’s your body trying to protect you. But what once kept you safe can later make connection, ease, and intimacy feel risky.

Healing is less about “fixing” and more about thawing.

With the right therapeutic support — sometimes including carefully guided psychedelic-assisted work — rigid patterns can soften. The nervous system can experience safety again. Trust can feel possible. The soil can warm.

It’s never a magic bullet. The space must be ethical, grounded, and carefully held.

But trauma is not the end of your story.

We’re so happy to introduce Madison, one of our student therapists at Wise Body S*x Therapy. 🌿

Madison brings a deeply relational and embodied presence to her work. She supports individuals navigating heartbreak, people-pleasing, boundaries, shame, and relational challenges — helping clients reconnect to their intuition, express their needs more fully, and feel more grounded in who they are.

If you’re looking for a warm, emotionally engaged space to explore growth and connection, Madison is currently accepting clients at a reduced rate of $60/hour.

There was a season in my life where I was searching everywhere for ground — spiritual spaces, big promises, borrowed certainty. Looking back, I see how hunger for meaning can quietly lead us into cages disguised as enlightenment.

Since the pandemic, that hunger has only grown. It’s easy to slip into binaries. To decide if something is flawed, it must be evil. To trade complexity for certainty.

What brought me back wasn’t purity — it was wholeness.

Jungian therapy taught me to integrate the shadow instead of bypass it. My family and friends reminded me what steady, imperfect love feels like. And I’m learning to stay in the tension of truth without collapsing into villain-making.

Right now, I’m practicing:
✨ Refusing the binary
✨ Listening to my body
✨ Staying soft in the gray

We don’t need a perfect ideology. We need our own inner compass.

The ground is already here. 👣

I had my last CIIS S*x Therapy class last weekend… a little conflict broke out about whether s*x was a want or need…
But aside from that, I just took from the buffet the ideas I wanted to try on for now and left the rest (as we might do in our s*xual life, too).

I have been doing my own reading on the depth psychological perspective … honestly, never thought I would find such an interest in Freudian writings!

I’m reflecting this weekend on the primal scene … that vital image of our parents in bed, located between memory and imagination… and I’m reflecting on how the integration of this coming together of opposites can teach us how to CREATE on every level.

Some kids heard it and didn’t see it. Some saw their parents bodies and then maybe made some guesses about how things might take place. Some kids had less of a sense because it was non-existent in their house.

You may already know about the idea of repetition compulsion and know that earlier experiences often have a stronger impact on the psyche than later intimate experiences.

I look at countries much healthier than North America in many ways and I wonder if their direct, honest response to their children’s questions about ‘how are babies made?’ is what helps some learn what it is to embark on a creative journey - and share that with another!

I think that it’s fascinating that we generally needed to construct that early template with imaginary free-play … so everyone’s template is unique, and as long as it’s not too rigid, we can learn to be influenced by the other and treat each encounter as an exploration with one another and a dance with one another’s past.
