The last leg our our 2 week trip earlier this month was at Duck Mountain. Only two nights out there, I feel like I kinda screwed up booking so short. This is a park that I love spending time in. But one of those things that sorta happens when you book your trip while in campgrounds haha.
This park will always hold a special place in my heart, first place I accidentally bear sprayed a kid. It was on the Woodland Nature trail. Just doing a test pull on an expired can and our little dude walked walked right into the mist. This was about a 1 second pull so wasn't even close to the worst bear spray incident for our family on trail haha. Naturally we hike this trail again on this trip.
We got out fishing on Jackfish Lake. Caught some beautiful sky photos while on the lake and had a cool encounter with a beaver family. Three, possibly four beavers swam circles around my kayak for 20 min or so.
The full day we had in park was mostly a rain day. We were able to sneak a competitive round of mini golf in. Taryn Merritt and I tied, she refused to acknowledge my victory on the 2nd playoff hole haha. Finished the round with an ice cream. We hit up Madge Lake for an evening fish in the rain. Got out by the w**d beds and thought we would be hammering fish. Ended up soaking wet, cold and all for one tiny jack. Just the way it goes sometimes eh.
Trailer we used on this camping adventure was a Sportsmen 332BHKSE courtesy of our friends over at TravelandRV in Watrous.
