A film can tell a story, but advocacy is what turns stories into change.

Following the screening of A Dream Called Khushi at the Waterloo Region Film Festival, our director and I spoke about the urgent need to continue supporting Rohingya refugees still living in Bangladesh’s refugee camps.

We called on local organizations, community leaders, and elected representatives to keep advocating for increased resettlement opportunities to Canada and to stand with refugees at a time when humanitarian funding is declining.

The Rohingya are still waiting for justice, safety, and the right to return home with dignity. As a Rohingya, I will continue to use my voice until the world no longer looks away.

At the KW Multicultural Festival, we proudly shared the beauty of Rohingya culture through this special event. From our traditional clothing and heritage to our identity, every moment reflects the resilience and rich culture of our community.

Though many of us now call Canada home, our roots remain close to our hearts. Thank you to everyone who celebrated diversity, inclusion, and belonging with us.
