JEFF, KP & BACKSTAGE BEN: Canada's biggest drop in population just happened!

We're now at 41,575,585 residents as of October 1st, dropping 76,000 from July. The main reason? A sharp reduction in non-permanent residents. A record-high of 339,505 temporary permits just expired, with only 163,026 being re-issued.

This list was obviously finished before Rob Reiner passed away. No idea why Ozzy didn’t make the list but an opinion on an Amazon Prime show did but here we are.

6. "KPop Demon Hunters" becoming a worldwide sensation, and the most-watched Netflix film of all time.

7. The Astronomer CEO getting caught having an alleged affair on Coldplay's kiss cam.

8. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce getting engaged.

9. Belly choosing Team Conrad on "The Summer I Turned Pretty".

10. Jimmy Kimmel getting pulled from the air after a controversial monologue following Charlie Kirk's assassination.


11. An old-fashioned heist at the Louvre. A gang of thieves dressed as workers in bright vests stole $102 million worth of jewelry, and got away on electric scooters.

12. Diane Keaton passing away in October at age 79.

13. Robert Irwin winning "Dancing with the Stars". His sister Bindi won in 2015.

"My friend group does secret Santa gift swap and every year the presents get more and more extravagant to the point where it feels like everyone’s trying to outdo each other. I love them and I want to participate, but I just can’t afford the kind of expensive gifts they treat as the norm and pretending I can is stressing me out. I’ve hinted that maybe we could set a spending limit, but they brushed it off, saying “it’s only once a year,” which made me feel even more uncomfortable. I’m a little embarrassed to admit to them that I don’t have that kind of disposable income, but I also don’t want to opt out of the group. How should I handle this? How can I give a thoughtful and impressive gift without blowing my budget?"

Tow truck operators from across Waterloo Region and beyond gathered Saturday for a memorial procession along Highway 401 as a show of respect for a fellow tow operator who never made it home.
Around 250 to 300 tow trucks took part, rolling together in silence.

A 42-year-old tow truck operator from Kitchener was killed in a hit-and-run on Highway 401 near Oxford Road 3. He was stopped on the shoulder, helping a stranded motorist, when he was struck by a passing vehicle.

People in the towing industry say this tragedy hits especially close to home. Many operators say they’ve had close calls on busy highways.

As winter driving conditions arrive, tow operators and emergency responders are renewing an urgent message for drivers: SLOW DOWN AND MOVE OVER. It’s not only the law, it’s the safe thing to do.

Thank you to tow truck driver out there. It always seems like you're under appreciated until we're stranded on the side of the road and you show up like an angel on wheels. - Rae
