Ontario elementary schools have been ranked, and the results are in.
A new Fraser Institute report looked at EQAO test results from more than 3,000 schools in Ontario.
Thirty-one schools tied for first place with a perfect score.
BTW the EQAO is the provincial Education Equality and Accountability Office. It is an independent government body that develops and oversees reading, writing and math tests that Ontario students must take in Grades 3, 6, 9, and 10.

CEO pay in Canada has hit a record high, with the top 100 CEOs earning an average of $16.2 million - that's 248 times more than the average worker’s salary. CEO compensation has surged 49% since 2020, driven by bonuses tied to corporate profits. The top CEOs made $7,812 an hour, so it only took a little over eight hours to make $65,548 - the average annual Canadian salary. By Jan. 2 at 9:23 am, CEOs have already made what the average worker makes in a year.

An indigenous settlement near Prince Albert Saskatchewan has been unearthed, along with ancient tools, fire pits and other objects. The area is being carefully excavated to uncover more history from over 11,000 years ago - making this camp older than the Pyramids of Egypt!

The world’s oldest (known) Tw***ie is turning 50 this year.
A chemistry teacher in Maine named Roger Bennatti opened it as an experiment for his class in 1976 and it's lived at the school ever since.
Roger retired 20 years ago, but the Tw***ie is still there, in a glass case. It’s still looks pretty good but I wouldn’t eat it.
FYI it’s a total myth that Tw***ies never expire. Hostess says their official shelf life is 45 days. – Rae

"I am not speaking to my husband because he gave me a cruel gift for Christmas. I was expecting something warm and thoughtful because we had a great 2025. He gave me a scale. At first, I thought it was a gag gift. I smashed it against the ground and slammed our bedroom door. We have barely spoken since. He doesn't think he's done anything wrong. He double-downed by saying he wanted to buy me a gift that involved health and wellness since I've recently gotten into redlight therapy. I told him it's the cruelest and most insensitive gift a man can give a woman. He doesn't have the courage to tell me that he is unhappy with my appearance. Am I overreacting? Should he apologize? I am perfectly happy with my appearance and in my own skin."

So… did Stranger Things really end on New Year’s Eve, or was that just a fake-out?
There’s a theory blowing up online that the finale we saw wasn’t actually the real ending. Fans are calling it the “Conformity Gate” theory, and it says Vecna actually won… and that happy, flash-forward ending WAS supposedly an illusion he created.
People think there are hidden clues to back it up. Like how all the students at graduation have their hands clasped, something Henry used to do. Or a “WHATZIT?” board game in the background, which fans say is a nod to Mr. Whatsit, the name Vecna’s victims gave him.
Fans think the real finale is coming out tomorrow. Netflix posted a teaser on Christmas with the caption: “Your future is on its way. Jan 7, 2026.”
It definitely seems like a stretch, but there is a documentary called “One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5” coming out Monday January 12th. - Rae

Finally, no more awkward “so… what does this job actually pay?” moment in the interview.
The ‘Working for Workers’ act went into effect on January 1st.
Job ads in Ontario now have to show the pay up front. No more applying first and finding out later that they aren’t worth your time.
Companies with 25 or more employees must include a salary or hourly wage range in their online job postings, and they can’t make it super broad to get around the rule.
Employers also can’t demand “Canadian experience,” and they have to be upfront if they’re using AI in the hiring process. - Rae
