Jeux régionaux de l'Acadie 2025 - NÉ

Ce fut un grand honneur d'être choisi comme vidéographe officiel des jeux régionaux qui ont eu lieu à Par-en-bas. C'était incroyable d'être témoin de l'esprit sportif et du talent que ces jeunes athlètes ont démontré. Comparé aux jeux précédents auxquels j'ai participé en tant que bénévole dans les années 1990 (dans le département des statistiques), j'ai été très impressionné par le montant de participants des jeux d'aujourd'hui. Quel bel événement !

It was a great honour to be chosen as the official videographer for the regional games held in Par-en-bas. It was incredble to witness the sportsmanship and talent that these young atheletes showcased. Compared to the previous games that I was a volunteer back in the 1990s (in the statistics department), I was very impressed by the scale of the games today. What a great event!

La famille Cottreau de Wedgeport a été célébrée lors des cérémonies d'ouverture des 40e Jeux régionaux de l'Acadie le 16 mai, 2025 au Mariners Centre. Ils ont allumé la flamme officielle et annoncé l'ouverture des jeux. Bravo !

The Cottreau family of Wedgeport was celebrated during the opening ceremonies of the 40th Regional Acadian Games on May 16th, 2025 at the Mariners Centre. They lit the official flame and announced the opening of the games. Bravo!

Jusqu'en 1961, il y avait trois petites écoles à Wedgeport : l'école du nord, l'école de l'est et l'école du sud. J'ai interrogé d'anciens élèves qui ont fréquenté chacune de ces écoles. Charlene Pothier, Rose Anne Comeau et Donnie Jacquard racontent leur expérience d'enfants ayant fréquenté ces écoles.

Until 1961, there were 3 smaller schools in Wedgeport - the north school, the east school and the south school. I interviewed former students that attended each school. Charlene Pothier, Rose Anne Comeau and Donnie Jacquard share their early school experiences.

🔹 A festival or local tradition

Ideas for future topics can include:
- our school(s)
- notable people such as Israel Pothier, Dr. O'Brien and many others
- boat building
- the "town" of Wedgeport
- our veterans
- notable ship wrecks including the West Jaffrey and Silver King
- etc, etc, etc

If you have a story to tell or know someone who deserves to be featured, contact us! The preferred language for the interview will be French.
