In 1955 John Daperis broadcasted his first Greek language program over the airwaves of CHLP Montreal’s French language radio station at the time. His journey as producer and host of a multicultural radio show included broadcasts from original stations CHRS-St-Jean D’Iberville and CJSO-Sorel. By 1966 Montreal’s thriving Hellenic community was read

y for more Greek programming and welcomed its first daily Greek language radio service when John and his wife Hélène Daperis launched Canadian Hellenic Cable Radio (CHCR). This service offered specialized Greek programming on a closed-circuit cable network, in otherwords today’s subscriber radio. In February 2003 CHCR cable radio station applied to the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) to obtain a commercial over the air FM license for a radio station to serve the Greater Montreal Area. The application was heard along with other major broadcasters and a license for 105.1 FM was eventually granted to Groupe CHCR Inc. On March 16, 2004, 105.1 FM began testing its signal from its transmitter on Mount Royal and launched on April 17, 2004. Groupe CHCR’s strength lies in its direct access to the diversified cultural communities in the GMA. The station thrives on its unique local programming which reflects Montreal’s worldly flair attracting listeners of every background. Cultural diversity brought to you by 105.1
CKDG 105.1 FM later evolved into MIKE FM, the English bloke who married into a multicultural family. The MIKE format has been carried over into our third language programming with live hosts, news, traffic, sports and classic hits from the countries and languages we feature.

40 ans de rythmes, de partage et de rencontres. 🌍

Depuis quatre décennies, le Festival international Nuits d’Afrique fait battre le cœur de Montréal au diapason de l'Afrique, des Antilles et de l'Amérique latine. Une odyssée musicale qui n'a cessé de grandir, portée par la ferveur de nos artistes et la fidélité inébranlable de notre public.

Aujourd'hui, nous sommes infiniment fier.e.s de vous dévoiler l'affiche officielle de cette 40e édition anniversaire. Un visuel qui témoigne de notre histoire et annonce un été sous le signe de l'authenticité et de la célébration.
