Last night I had the incredible opportunity to attend an intimate Breakthrough T1D event and hear from Dr. Marie Cristina Nostro, a leader in stem cell research for T1D.

She shared updates on the groundbreaking clinical trials happening right now in the world of diabetes regenerative medicine, and I left feeling truly hopeful about the future.

As someone living with Type 1 diabetes every day, hearing about the progress being made toward replacing insulin-producing cells and potentially changing the lives of millions was both inspiring and emotional.

One of the best parts of the evening was being able to ask questions afterwards and connect with Dr. Nostro personally. I’m so grateful for researchers like her who dedicate their lives to moving us closer to a world without Type 1 diabetes.

And yes… I told her if she ever needs volunteers for a clinical trial, sign me up. 🙋‍♀️💙

The future feels a little brighter today.

Got my Tdap vaccine today. I bursted out into tears when I got there.

Pregnancy hormones are no joke, and getting another vaccine brought back a lot of emotions from when my diabetes symptoms first appeared 4.5 years ago.

Today was a reminder that sometimes we can do hard things even when they’re emotional.

Baby boy is worth every tear. 🩵

This wasn’t an easy decision for me.

As someone living with type 1 diabetes, getting any vaccine can bring up a lot of emotions and memories. I spent time reading, asking questions, talking with my healthcare team, and weighing what felt right for me and my baby.

At the end of the day, I made the decision that felt best for my body, my pregnancy, and my family.

My encouragement to anyone navigating these choices is to do your own research, ask questions, speak with trusted healthcare professionals, and don’t let the noise drown out your ability to make an informed decision. Your body, your decision. 🤍

Thank you to my Endo for giving me an extra box of DASH pods that she had! She felt bad that I’m going through so many and I have to pay for them out of pocket. So grateful 🤍

One week ago I participated in the Breakthrough T1D Walk 👟

I had my own team, the Type 1 Optimists, with a goal of raising $50,000 for type 1 diabetes research toward a cure. We came so close, and had an incredibly generous matching gift from John Cammett which brought our impact to nearly $100,000!

I am beyond thankful for every single person who donated, showed up, and supported along the way.

One of the biggest decisions in my birth plan? Choosing to collect our baby’s cord blood stem cells.

It’s incredible to think that something usually discarded after birth could one day help treat or potentially cure diseases.

As someone living with type 1 diabetes, the possibility that stem cell research could change the future for conditions like T1D and so many others makes this decision feel especially meaningful.

Making all these birth plan choices at 31 weeks and getting so excited to meet our little one. 💙

First non-stress test at 31 weeks 💙 High-risk T1D pregnancy means weekly check-ins now… and honestly I’m not mad about it.

Getting extra time to hear baby, watch them move, and know everything is okay is such a gift in the middle of all the monitoring and appointments.

Feeling grateful for the reassurance and these little windows of connection 🫶

Back pain ✔️
Leg cramps ✔️
Peeing all night ✔️
Rolling over in bed like it’s an Olympic sport ✔️

Still wouldn’t trade it for anything. 💙🤰
