The Prayer She Almost Gave Up On

Every night, Sarah knelt beside her bed and prayed the same prayer.

“Lord, please remember me.”

She had prayed for years.

She watched her friends get married, build careers, buy houses, and celebrate answered prayers. But Sarah’s life seemed stuck.

One evening, after another disappointing day, she fell to her knees and began to cry.

“God, I’m tired. I have prayed and prayed. Are You still listening?”

For the first time, she almost decided to stop praying.

But as she wiped her tears, she remembered something her mother had told her years earlier:

“When you cannot see God working, trust that He is working behind the scenes.”

Sarah opened her Bible.

Her eyes fell on Isaiah 40:31:

“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength…”

She read the verse again.

Then she whispered, “Lord, I will wait.”

The next morning, Sarah received a phone call.

An opportunity she had applied for months earlier had finally opened. It was a position she never thought she would get.

She got the job.

But that wasn't the only miracle.

A few months later, she met a godly man who loved God and loved her sincerely. The very prayer she had cried over for years was becoming a testimony.

One evening, Sarah returned to the same place beside her bed.

She knelt down and smiled through her tears.

“Lord, now I understand. You were never ignoring me. You were preparing me.”

Sometimes, God’s answer feels late because we are looking at the clock while God is looking at the whole picture.

Don't give up praying. Don't give up believing. And don't mistake God's silence for His absence.
