Today, we remember the workers who never made it home.

On the National Day of Mourning, we honour those who lost their lives, were injured, or made ill on the job and we recommit to the fight for safer workplaces.

Every name is a life. Every loss was preventable.

We will continue to organize, speak out, and hold employers and governments accountable, because every worker deserves to come home safe.

🕯️ Mourn the dead. Fight for the living.

CUPE 543 – City of Windsor Indoor Workers
In 2005, Windsor became the first city in Ontario and the second city in Canada (after Calgary) to establish a 311 service. In late 2025, the City of Windsor notified CUPE 543 that it plans to contract out the entire 311 Department.

On March 11, the employer even made a post on its Facebook celebrating the work that CUPE 543 members perform — yet is moving forward with contracting out those very jobs. Where’s the respect?

Please take a moment to sign the petition and help keep these jobs in-house: Windsor Calls - 311 Answers

Solidarity matters. ✊

Windsor’s 311 operators are the friendly, knowledgeable voices that help residents connect with vital services every day. They know our streets, neighbourhoods, and communities – because they live here.

Community Living Windsor workers deserve fair, lasting wages.
After walking away from the bargaining table, the employer is trying to force a final offer vote that fails to deliver the long-term wage increases workers need to survive.
Let’s show the members of CUPE Local 2345 that they’re not fighting alone. Join us at Nikki’s Pizza Truck in Windsor to chat with the bargaining team, National Rep Cathy Barrett alongside CUPE Ontario President, Fred Hahn for a solidarity event!

This weekend CUPE Local 2318 Executive members, Lori Wightman and Zoe Mastellotto attended a viewing of The Librarians documentary as part of the Windsor International Film Festival.

An important film documenting the recent attacks on intellectual freedom through book bans and the librarians standing up and fighting back. See it if you get the chance! And as always, support your local libraries!
