When it is extremely cold, usually sundogs appear in the sky. Currently, it is -26 C (feels like -37 from wind)

A sundog (or parhelion) is a bright, often colorful, spot of light appearing to the left, right, or both sides of the sun, caused by sunlight refracting through hexagonal ice crystals in high-altitude clouds like cirrus. These "mock suns" form at the same height as the sun, typically 22 degrees away, and show colors like a rainbow (red closest to the sun), creating stunning atmospheric displays, especially when the sun is low. - google
