So here I am with my annual tradition of finding the right word fitting to describe what I want my year to be. It started about 10 years ago with my first blog, Lollies and Lipsticks. At first to fill my site with entries and page views and traffic, then as a way to stay motivated, to remember my goals, and today, to see the world differently.

But as I reflect on what my one word for the year will be, I think about the days ahead of me. Can i really reduce 365 days of activities to one single word? Can I really have one word (out of the vast availability of words) run my year? Will this word ring true even at the thick of the pandemic, at the height of turmoil, amidst anxiety?

But here I am, thinking as I fold pink girl-clothes, fresh out of the dryer, with YT on the TV that the kids abandoned when they decided to run to their rooms instead. This stillness, a hint of balsam from the candle lit at the kitchen table, faint guitar playing from Alfred's studio. This. I can only breathe in the peace it offers.

So - this rest, complemented with the book I'm currently reading - gives way to my "One Word for the Year".

Gratitude.

And along with this, a personal project I hope to fulfill .

Seems like yesterday when we exchanged vows in the most unusual way! Thank you because you stayed true to your vow that you'll support me in achieving my dreams...lookie, I'm slowly getting there and it's all because of you.

Thank You Lord for your loving kindness and mercy through all the years!! ❤❤❤

SLOW // Never had this kind of day in a long time. Maybe it was the rain the brought the chill vibe. Maybe because it's almost weekend. Maybe because the Lord is reminding us to breathe and savor the last few weeks of summer vacay with the kids before we're off again at the hustle and bustle of school and homeworks.
There's no rush today and that's okay. Rest is good. Taking a deep breath is good. Messy, loud, bickering kids are all good. It's our season to clean up toys and workout at 5 and do laundry non stop. But it's all good...because there is rest.Because the work we do is God's way of reaching out to our kids and to others. And God designed everything beautifully to allow us to rest after we work too.

So go on mom, buy take out and watch cartoons with the kids all day. Breathe in this season. Savor the days of slow living. Then tomorrow, we go grinding again.

Love you all mamas xoxo

FAILED //
So here it is: the failure that pushed me to restructure my days.
- I only went 5 days but oh boy was that an extreme experience. I FAILED big time. I was exhausted by then and I can't seem to fit the workouts and book reading in my day. I felt defeated because being back to my fitness routine really helped me balance things out at home. It calms me down.
If you haven't yet, try researching the challenge. Not a fitness routine/program but a mindset mastering. That being said, not being able to finish it made me think where I am with my mindset and discipline and how I deal with times when I felt overwhelmed with everything that's going on.
This got me thinking of the things I need to unlearn to give way to new things. First is the fact that I have always loved my late nights alone. Did 11pm workouts for a long while and would sleep at 1am. I would then wake up crappy the next day because I'm not ready to start my day just yet when the kids wake up. Changed this to start at 5 and sleep by 10. I also started a routine work for the kids to clean the house before bedtime. Two small changes that really impacted the way our days look like.
So, for a week now, 5am workouts are my thing. Very tempting to sneak in a few more hours of sleep but that is when the mind game starts, something I also learned from failing the 😄😄
