Please HELP🙏‼️
UPDATE-We remain $1225 short for our rescue of Amish mare Polly. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far for Polly🥰🫶🙏
May is auction month💔and it’s always heartbreaking with all the horses in need. After the heartbreak of losing so many of our senior Residents last year, we decided it was time to help another soul. Thanks to our friend Jenny who has Amish connections, we need your help to give frail Polly, an elderly Standardbred mare a new home at our Little Red Barn Sanctuary. With her failing health, there are no other options for her💔💔
Polly was born into the Standardbred race industry and raced for three years about 20 years ago. The pin firing on her legs is evidence of her young body being strained. (Pin firing is strongly opposed by the Canadian Veterinarian Medical Association)
At the end of their “career” many Standardbreds who no longer fulfil the speed etc for racing are bought at auction by the Amish for buggy horses as they are already broke to the cart. And so Polly became a buggy horse for 18 years until her body gave out. Horses like Polly usually end up one place but fortunately, this is where you can help. Donations for Polly will give her a chance to live no longer as a number tattooed on her neck, but as someone who deserves to live their own life freely.
Sadly, Polly is going to need urgent veterinary care to figure out what is happening with her back end and legs. We don’t have a lot of information at this time but we do know we have to act. We hope we can help her live the retirement she deserves.
We are fundraising $2500 for Polly. One generous donor will match up to $500
Please share if you can, or donate to [email protected] by etransfer or PayPal. Every dollar adds up💞💞
Thank you LRB family for helping us not only save lives, but also to provide quality life for our Residents💓
