LET'S TAKE A WALK...IN SPACE!

Today, a billionaire and an engineer have become the first non-professional crew to perform a spacewalk.

Jared Isaacman and Sarah Gillis stepped out of the SpaceX spacecraft around 15 minutes apart, starting at 11:52BST, wearing specially-designed suits.

Before, only astronauts with government-funded space agencies had done a spacewalk.

Spacewalks are believed to be one of the most difficult manouevres in space, so the fact that a private company has pulled it off is a milestone in the history of space travel.

This walk at 435 miles (700km) was higher than any previous walk, and used innovative technology in the new extravehicular activity (EVA) astronaut suits.

Government space agencies like NASA want the private sector to transport their astronauts on missions and bring down the cost of space travel. While entrepreneurs like Isaacman and Elon Musk want to expand private space travel so that more non-professional astronauts can go to space, which comes at a high cost.

Ma-buhay! celebrates Pinoy pride and brings to spotlight the dynamic Filipino Talents

Manitoba’s first fully Filipino musical ‘"Ma-Buhay!: A New Musical" takes the centre stage and makes its world premiere last night, June 27th, 2024 in Rainbow Stage.
Featuring all-original music and lyrics from Winnipeg's Joseph Sevillo, Ma-buhay! tells the story of three young Filipinos from different economic backgrounds competing in a reality singing competition. Theatre stars Andrea Macasaet and Maan Dionisio lead the cast.
Ma-buhay! is a collaboration of creative minds and is the first musical every commissioned and developed by Rainbow Stage.
The incredible actors also include Daren Dyhengco, AP Bautista, Arnold Tongol , Rochelle Kives, Robin Jordan Quintana, Shauldon Santos, Pierson Alibudbud, Annika Malolos , Jordan Sevillo, Kaitlyn Yago and Ms Joy Lazo.
It also boasts of a brilliant dance and music ensemble consisting of Alba Manuel, Jerilyn Bulaong, Justin Bulaong, Dutchess Cayetano, Victoria Exconde, Johan Malolos, Nathan Malolos, Hazel Wallace, and Josh Calabio.
Ma-buhay! makes use of live orchestra music under the musical direction of Seanne Buenafe. It features fabulous visual, set and backdrop design by students of Sisler High School CREATE program.
The iconic Rainbow Stage dome and Canada’s largest open-air theatre celebrates 70th Anniversary season this summer with Ma-buhay! world premiere and the Broadway musical Mary Poppins.
