Opportunities for Deaf and Disabled Filmmakers. Deadline is fast approaching so please check it out and share.

***UPDATE: The deadline for AccessCBC has been extended to January 31st at 11:59pm Pacific time!***

Happy New Year, everyone - we’ve got some very exciting news to share!

We are thrilled to announce AccessCBC, a national CBC initiative for Deaf and disabled creators developed in partnership with ReelAbilities Film Festival Toronto that will provide training, mentorship, and, on select projects, financing support to create scripted and documentary screen-based content.

AccessCBC consists of two streams:

SCRIPTED (Drama and Comedy): a pitch development program that will invite up to 10 Deaf and disabled creators to participate in multiple development workshops for drama or comedy series. Program participants will be paid for their involvement in the program and their creation of a pitch package.

SHORT DOCUMENTARY STREAM: a development program that includes a paid development phase and mentorship for up to 10 selected filmmakers. At the end of an approximate eight-week development cycle, one short doc will be selected for production.

For more information on the individual programs, eligibility, and submission requirements, check out: reelabilities.org/toronto/accesscbc

Have more questions? Reach out to us at [email protected]

SUBMISSION DEADLINE FOR BOTH STREAMS: January 26, 2022.

On Monday, July 26th we tragically lost our beloved coworker, mentor and friend Dave Barber. Dave passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family. Those of you who had the privilege of knowing him know what a gentle, kind, curious, …
