A Number - By Caryl Churchill
Directed by Alex Poch Goldin
It all starts this Wednesday, November 12 at the Tom Hendry Warehouse and runs through to November 29th.
What happens when you discover more than one YOU in the world? This psychological thriller explores themes of identity, family dynamics and the ethics of scientific experimentation.
Bernard has contentedly navigated life as an only child. When his father reveals the truth about his place in the family order, Bernard’s world is turned upside down. Father and son relationships can be complicated at the best of times but take on new meaning in a world where humans can be replicated. Caryl Churchill is at her unsettling best with this thought-provoking play about nature versus nurture, the emotional impact of cloning and the moral implications of creating human beings for experimentation.

Serving Elizabeth starts Tuesday, November 11 at PTE and runs until November 23 !
In the script of history, who gets to tell the story?
In Kenya in 1952, Mercy, a restaurant proprietor, is hired to cater the impending visit of Princess Elizabeth, soon to be Queen. In 2015, another story unfolds in London, England, where a young Kenyan-born Canadian, Tia, is working as an intern on a TV drama series about the British royal family – while also pursuing a writing project of her own. Is there a deeper connection between these two seemingly disparate worlds? An ingenious contemporary drama that keeps us guessing as it explores issues of colonialism, nationalism and the question of who gets to have a voice.

Only two days left to see The Mush Hole at MYTP. Created by award-winning dance artist Santee Smith, The Mush Hole is a powerful performance that uses song, dance and theatre to explore the lives and spirits of children forced to attend Ontario’s Mohawk Institute residential school. The poor quality of the food served to students led to the school’s nickname, The Mush Hole.
The Mohawk Institute Residential School operated by the Anglican Church of Canada and the Government of Canada from 1885 to 1970. Get all the deets at: https://mtyp.ca/mush-hole
