There’s a moment on every winter shoot where the joke stops being a joke.

You start out laughing about the layers. Someone counts seventeen. Two hours later nobody’s counting anything. Fingers stop cooperating. Batteries die early. Someone holds a light steady while their whole body shakes, because the shot needs it.

Nobody complains. You just get quieter. Do the take. Reset. Do it again.

And then it hits you. This is the story. Cold Arrival is about people who land here and get handed a winter they were never prepared for, and there we were, standing in a small version of the same thing. Nobody had to explain the feeling to us.

We stayed out there until it was right. That’s the part we’ll remember.
