This book has been controversial since it was first published. Learning that it was banned in some prisons in the US kept me from reading it. I’m glad I finally read and finish it. People believe this is a book that teaches manipulation and promotes ruthless behaviour.
To me it is learning your power and how to use it to do good and defend yourself. At the same time learn how others use their power to their advantage so you can avoid them before they make you miserable. This book does not BS nor sugarcoat reality. It’s about defense from toxic people and from those who claims to be powerful. We live in a world where the game is power. Be it in the office, at home, anywhere and everywhere. People think they have the power over the other, and the other over another one. This book will help us how to navigate the world of power that will aid not only in the present more-so in the future. This book needs a deeper understanding. Not all laws are applicable to everyone or everyday in every situation.
For example, Law #4-Always say Less than necessary
While it’s true that less talk, less mistakes = more powerful, this doesn’t apply to every situation. There are also times when being silent is also dangerous, it may create doubtfulness. Therefore, use this law in the right situation and with caution.
Law #11 Learn to keep people dependent on you.
Everything is replaceable in this world. If you do not recreate yourself and be complacent with where you are now or become over-confident, absolutely there is someone younger with fresher ideas who can replace you before you know it. So keep on learning & challenge your limits, making yourself always useful and wanted. This will give you power to make people depend on your skills rather than replace you because you are no longer fit to the new challenges.
This book is weird, straightforward & unflinching but if interpreted in the right way, it is a saviour!
