This week, On Screen Manitoba was pleased to host members of Manitoba’s production industry for All Access 365: Documentary, Factual and Unscripted.

Attendees were able to hear directly from national decision-makers from Telefilm, CMF, CBC, AMI tv, and the NFB and build relationships through one on one meetings and networking with the broader community. Special shout out to students from RRC Polytech and Sisler CREATE program who also joined us for the sessions.

Apply Now — The Writer’s Lab: Series Development Accelerator

Join us for an intensive two-weekend workshop designed to help emerging writers develop original series concepts from scratch and create a pitch-ready development package.

Led by experienced industry professionals Andrew Malabre and Tyson Caron, this program places you in a dynamic writing room environment where you’ll build structural tools, creative confidence, and receive mentorship to turn ideas into compelling stories.

Details:
▶Dates: November 22–23 and November 29–30, 2025
▶Location: 4th floor, 245 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba
▶Limited to 8 participants for maximum creative impact

Deadline to apply: November 17, 2025 at 5 PM CT

Who should apply?
▶Manitoba-based writers interested in creating original series for any platform
▶Must be 18 or older

Must submit with your application:
▶A short statement (1–2 paragraphs) about your interest in the program.
▶A sample of your scripted or prose writing (minimum 5 pages).
▶A resume
▶Three concepts you’re considering, each with a 1–2 sentence logline

✔ New venue: DAY 1: November 5 Industry Sessions + Networking Mixer will now be in the Crystal Ballroom, 7th Floor, The Fort Garry Hotel.
✔ Full Pass is at capacity, but we’re accepting waitlist requests—email [email protected] to join.
✔ Networking Mixer passes (5–7 PM) are still available for those who can’t attend the full day.
✔ Freelance Crew Meet & Greet with CBC and NFB is happening Day 2: November 6 from 1:30–3:30 PM at The Fort Garry Hotel—camera ops, editors, DOPs, audio techs, and more, this is your chance to connect. Kyle Irving, partner at has been appointed as Board Chair of the Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA) for the 2025–2027 term.
