🎥 ATTN documentary filmmakers — this one’s for you.

Join On Screen Manitoba for a special masterclass with Gabriela Osio Vanden, Jack Weisman and Michael Code, the filmmaking team behind A24’s acclaimed feature documentary 'Nuisance Bear', winner of the Grand Jury Prize for Documentary at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival.

Drawing on their experience making the film in and around Churchill, Manitoba, they’ll explore the creative and ethical decisions behind filming communities, place and wildlife — from trust and consent to observation, intervention and representation.

The event also includes a screening of 'Nuisance Bear'.

OSM members in good standing can nominate themselves or another member for the Board and vote in the election. On Screen Manitoba a récemment soutenu l’activité de formation pour comédien·ne·s francophones de Wookey Films Inc. pour la saison 2 de Malgré moi, dont le tournage est prévu cet été.

La coach montréalaise Virginie Morin a travaillé à Winnipeg avec les comédien·ne·s francophones Axelle Oulé, Roger Durand, Yan Dallaire, Marie-Michèle Vienneau, Katrine Deniset, Zara Ramlal, Gabriel Gosselin et Mathieu Jubinville.

Dans son témoignage, Gabriel Gosselin a souligné que « la grande force d’un travail comme celui-là est de pouvoir passer du temps devant la caméra et de pouvoir se voir à l’écran ».

OSM recently supported Wookey Films’ Franco Actor Training activity for 'Malgré moi' Season 2, ahead of their filming this summer.

Montréal-based coach Virginie Morin worked with local Francophone actors Axelle Oulé, Roger Durand, Yan Dallaire, Marie-Michèle Vienneau, Katrine Deniset, Zara Ramlal, Gabriel Gosselin, and Mathieu Jubinville in Winnipeg.

In translated feedback, Gabriel Gosselin noted that “the great strength of this kind of work is being able to spend time in front of the camera and see yourself on screen.”

On Screen Manitoba Welcomes Scott Montgomery as Strategic Lead, Sector and Industry Development

On Screen Manitoba is pleased to welcome Scott Montgomery as Strategic Lead, Sector and Industry Development. A BAFTA and Canadian Screen Award-winning writer, producer, and showrunner, Scott brings more than 20 years of experience across television, animation, children's programming, and digital media.

Scott joins OSM as the organization continues to advance its work as a sector builder, strategic convener, and advocate for Manitoba's screen industry. His role will support efforts to strengthen workforce development, expand opportunities for creators and companies, foster strategic partnerships, and help build the conditions for long-term industry growth and competitiveness.

We look forward to the experience, insight, and leadership he will bring as we continue working with industry partners to strengthen Manitoba's screen sector.
