I’m shocked and profoundly saddened to share that our sweet dog, Dot, crossed the rainbow bridge this morning.
Dot had been under the care of the vet for the past few weeks for respiratory problems, believed to be related to asthma or bronchitis. Her condition was getting progressively worse despite medication, so we suspected something else might be going on and scheduled an ultrasound. This morning Dot woke up and it was clear her condition had worsened overnight. She was struggling with her breathing, wouldn’t take her meds had also stopped eating and drinking.
I called the vet to tell them I was bringing her in, but Dot passed away before we left the house. Her little body and fighting spirit just gave out.
Dot was the sweetest, smartest, most loving dog in the world. She got along beautifully with all the kids, other dogs and cats and was just the biggest love bug ever. She’d been through a lot of abuse in her early years before joining our family, but that never altered her personality. She was always the biggest loving ball of sweetness.
I’m not sure our family is going to get over this anytime soon— the humans and other animals alike. Dot was an integral part of our family and this loss feels insurmountable right now. I can’t even imagine how Daisy will handle this when she knows what’s going on.
Rest In Peace, sweet Dot. We love you and miss you beyond belief already We’ll see you again one day over the rainbow bridge 🌈
If you feel so inclined, give your furry ones an extra cuddle today in honour of Dot, because time with them is never guaranteed.
Our sweet, precious girl Dot, 2010 - 2022 💔
