What can Meta ads actually do for your business? And what can’t they?

After the “boosting vs. ads” convo earlier this week, I realized we also need to talk about this:

📣 Ads are not magic wands.
But they are power tools — when used with a clear message and system behind them.

✅ Ads CAN:

Grow your list
Build brand recognition
Drive traffic to your freebie, course, retreat, whatever
Find new people who’ve never heard of you but are exactly the right fit

❌ Ads CAN’T:

Fix a vague offer
Replace connection or value
Sell something that doesn’t yet resonate

Basically: ads amplify what’s already working.

If your message is 🔥 and your offer is clear, Meta ads are the megaphone.

If not? They’re just a very expensive mirror.

No shade, just honesty.

And we need to talk about it for a second, because I’ve had this conversation with at least 3 people in the past couple weeks, and if it keeps coming up, it probably means more people are wondering…

So here’s the thing:

Boosting a post is ❌NOT❌ the same thing as running Meta ads.

Like… not even a little.

Boosting is kind of like going, “This post is cute! Let’s toss $20 on it and see what happens.”
It’s quick. It’s easy. And it’s sometimes helpful if all you want is likes or eyeballs to see your content.

But Meta ads…. the kind that actually grow your audience, build your list, bring in leads, or fill your retreat/workshop/course — are a whole different strategy.

They let you:

-Target very specific people (not just whoever clicked like last time)
-Create custom audiences (like people who watched your videos or visited your website)
-Test multiple versions of your message, creative, and offers
-Track who clicks, who converts, and what’s actually working

So when you see a polished ad like the one here for a dreamy retreat venue, you’re looking at a REAL ad, not a boosted post.

That one nice ad right there?
👀 It’s not just floating around looking cute. It’s part of a bigger system that’s working on purpose.

No shade to boosting… it has its place.
But if you’re trying to actually market something?

Meta ads > boosts. Every time.

💬 What’s one thing you’ve learned to say NO to — that made room for a better YES?

Just picked up this book: The Power of NO! for Women.

I haven’t read it yet — but I don’t need to in order to know how damn powerful this word is.

When I worked as an online SW, I had to learn quickly:
How to say NO.
How to set boundaries.
How to refuse shame for protecting my own energy.

That word became my lifeline.

Because NO isn’t rejection....NO is self-preservation.
NO is leadership.
NO is power.

And that’s the part no one tells women: every single time you say no without apology, you are claiming your space. You’re declaring your worth. You’re showing the world that your voice matters.

Learning to say NO without guilt is what transformed me from a woman who felt like she had no options into the unapologetic powerhouse I know I am today.

✨ Authority starts with boundaries.
✨ Power starts with NO.

🔥HOT TAKE...

If women were naturally submissive… patriarchy wouldn’t need systems of oppression to uphold it. ✌️

Think about it:

If we were truly “made to serve,” society wouldn’t have to build entire structures to keep us down:
→ Wage gaps.
→ Policing bodies.
→ Gaslighting ambition.
→ Telling women to be “professional” only when we’re quiet, polite, and palatable.

These systems don’t exist because women are weak. They exist because women are naturally POWERFUL.

And, my time in the online SW industry taught me one, undeniable truth:
Many "powerful" men are absolutely weak for women.
Victims of their own lust and need for escapism.

SO many of them worship the idea of having power- but define "power" as having money and.... (wait for it)..... ACCESS TO WOMEN.

YUP. The "bros" rate other bros success by how many hot women they have around them. 🫠

That's why they've built entire institutions to try and contain us...

And yet, despite centuries of suppression, here we are running businesses, raising children, building our own wealth and loudly taking up space!

The truth of the matter is that women were never submissive. We were suppressed.

This was me.

Apron on. Mask half-off.
Working at a café and a pizza place — back-to-back shifts that totaled 13+ hours a day.

Paid $13/hour.
50+ hours per week.
Single mom-ing it with childcare hanging by a thread.
Drowning in expenses.

I was exhausted, under-earning, and stretched thinner than I thought possible.

And yet… I still showed up.
For my kids.
For the customers.
For myself.

It wasn’t glamorous, and it wasn’t sustainable..... It was just survival.

That season of my life taught me grit that no MBA ever could.
It taught me how to lead with empathy, how to juggle more than seemed humanly possible, and how to never wait for someone else to hand me “permission” to build the life I deserved.

Today, I’m not clocking in for $13/hour.
I’m building my own empire, on my own terms.

And I’ll never forget the woman in that apron — because she’s the reason I’m unstoppable now.

🏒🐎 Sports build leaders.

This infographic blew me away — 67% of women believe they’ve carried skills from sports into adulthood, and half credit sports for their leadership development.

I see this firsthand with myself AND my own kids:
👉Softball taught me how to show up for myself AND my team.
👉 Hockey/Baseball has taught my son leadership, teamwork, and resilience.
👉 Horseback riding is teaching my daughter patience, confidence, and grit.

And honestly? I so badly want to get my daughter the ballfield, too... But there aren’t any teams nearby for her age right now — and that breaks my heart, because I know the lessons sports give you can’t always be replicated elsewhere.

Sports shape character.
They teach you how to win with humility and lose with grace.
They teach you accountability.
They teach you how to push past limits.

And here’s the business tie-in ⬇️
As someone who will eventually be hiring a team, I won’t make it a deciding factor…
…but I will be paying attention to whether applicants have played sports.

Because that detail tells me so much about who they are under pressure, how they handle challenges, and whether they know how to thrive in a team environment.

⚡ If your content doesn’t polarize, it won’t magnetize.

I learned this the hard way.

When I worked as an online s*x worker, every piece of content I put out had a reaction. Some people adored me. Others attacked me. There was no middle ground..... which was tough for me, because I'm a natural mediator at heart.

But, you know what? neutrality doesn’t sell.
Neutrality doesn’t inspire.
Neutrality doesn’t create movements.

Later, when I started creating political content, it was the same thing. Every post drew a line in the sand. Some people rallied. Some people raged.

But that’s what made it powerful.

The truth is → if your content makes everyone comfortable, it won’t make anyone care.

And that lesson has carried me straight into business:
→ Authority requires edges.
→ Magnetism requires polarity.
→ Leadership requires the courage to be seen in your whole truth.

So no — I don’t aim for safe, “likeable” content.
I aim for resonance. For impact. For magnetism.

→ Because if you’re brave enough to polarize, you’re brave enough to lead.

How ‘bout those Blue Jays!!?? ⚾🔥

Last night, the Jays clinched the league championship series and are officially headed to the World Series!

Watching that moment unfold hit me right in the nostalgia.

I grew up playing ball... and I love it a little more EVERY single time I step on the field. 🥲

The crunch of gravel under cleats, the crack of the bat splitting silence, the sting of catching a line drive..... it’s all still in my bones.

Lately I've realized that I learned more about leadership from team sports than any textbook or seminar could ever teach me.

Team sports teach you how to lead and how to follow.
They teach you how to take a loss without crumbling, and how to win without arrogance.
They teach you accountability, because when you drop the ball... the whole team feels it.
And they teach you presence... because success only happens when you’re locked into this play, this pitch, this moment.

Those lessons built me into the leader I am today.

The same principles that drive a championship team (trust, grit, alignment) are the ones that build successful brands and powerful businesses.

✨ If you want to see who someone really is as a leader, watch how they show up for their team... not when things are easy, but when the game’s on the line.
