We are so incredibly lucky and honoured to have met so many amazing and generous people on Clementina Bouche's epic cross-country ski expedition up the Dene trade route, the Idaa Trail. Without all of you, none of this would be possible. I can't get into thanking everyone just yet, but I did want to share this particular highlight.
In Délı̨nę, we were welcomed to the Délı̨nę Got'ı̨nę Government office with a big celebration and feast to welcome Clementine. Simply being in Délı̨nę and walking around, we made so many friends. A pair of whom, would later be called upon to rescue Clementine from the unseasonably warm weather and melting slush on Great Bear Lake.
After arriving in Délı̨nę after cross country skiing over 760+km, she switched to kite skiing and headed out onto GBL for another 400+km of kite skiing adventures. However, with the rising temperatures, the slush and water built up on the lake, making it difficult, if not impossible to set up on tent out on the lake. So, with the help of our new friends, Bruce Kenny and Verna Kenny, Bruce was able to wrangle up this incredible rescue vehicle (be sure to watch the video), to head out on an 11hr rescue mission to pick up Clementine, who was stranded out on the lake, unable to ski in the depths of water atop the ice.
