Twenty-four years after the Bali bombings, survivors and families returned to Ground Zero in Legian — not only to remember the 202 people who were killed, but to repeat a message they say still matters today: peace.

Flowers were laid at the memorial, prayers were held, and survivors shared how the attacks continue to shape their lives decades later.

Among those attending were people who still carry physical injuries from the 2002 bombings, as well as Australian visitors paying tribute to the victims.

Survivors are also continuing to push for a peace museum beside the memorial, intended to preserve the history of the attacks and pass their message to future generations.

A Brazilian woman arrested at Bali’s airport with 3.6 kilograms of liquid co***ne allegedly told police she had been promised US$50,000 to complete the delivery.

Investigators say the 36-year-old woman, identified by the initials TCDS, claimed she was instructed by a person known only as “G” to bring the co***ne from Brazil to Bali, where it was allegedly meant to be handed to another person.

Police are now investigating the wider network behind the shipment, including who arranged the delivery and who was expected to receive the drugs in Bali.

TCDS was arrested after officers allegedly found the liquid co***ne concealed inside bottles made to resemble shampoo and other personal-care products.

A Chinese tourist says jewelry worth around US$10,000 disappeared from her suitcase during a trip in Bali.

The tourist had left her luggage inside a travel vehicle while visiting Nusa Penida. Later that night, after arriving at a hotel in Lovina, she noticed the combination code on her suitcase had changed.

When she managed to open it, a jewelry box containing rings, earrings, pearl earrings and an emerald bracelet was missing.

Police are now investigating where the suitcase may have been accessed and have questioned people connected to the trip, including the driver and tour guide.

Kuta Beach is facing growing coastal erosion — and the problem extends far beyond one of Bali’s most famous beaches.

Officials say around 30% of Bali’s coastline has already been affected by erosion, with dozens of kilometres still requiring further intervention.

In Kuta, the shoreline is estimated to be retreating by around 1.9 metres per year, while authorities continue beach maintenance, sand management and coastal protection works.

The issue is becoming increasingly important for Bali, where beaches are not only major tourism assets but also part of the island’s wider coastal economy.

Shampoo bottles at Bali airport allegedly contained something far more serious than toiletries.

A 36-year-old Brazilian woman has been arrested after authorities say they found 3.6 kilograms of liquid co***ne concealed inside shampoo and personal care bottles in her luggage.

The woman was stopped at Ngurah Rai International Airport following a joint operation involving Bali Police and Customs.

Police described the concealment method as relatively sophisticated and said the seizure is among the largest liquid co***ne cases recorded in Bali in recent years.

Investigators are now trying to establish the woman’s travel route and whether anyone else was involved.

A viral video from Japan’s Nara Park has put two Indonesian tourists under the spotlight.

The clip shows a deer taking a piece of plastic while the tourists stand nearby, prompting a Japanese man to confront them on camera.

The footage quickly spread online, with claims that the pair had deliberately fed plastic to the deer.

But the woman seen in the video later issued a clarification, saying the man was her father and insisting there was no intention to feed plastic to the animal.

She admitted they were too slow to take the plastic back and apologised for what happened.

Nara Park warns visitors that its famous deer should only be given special deer crackers — and that plastic, paper and other rubbish can seriously harm them.

Police in Bali have found 22 protected green turtles alive on an abandoned boat off Serangan in South Denpasar.

Authorities suspect the turtles were being smuggled and believe those operating the vessel may have fled after noticing officers approaching.

The turtles were taken into care and are expected to undergo health checks before being released back into the wild.

Police are now investigating who was behind the suspected smuggling operation.

Police in Jembrana have seized the remains of 11 protected Mobula rays in a suspected wildlife trade case.

The rays were found dead and cut into pieces inside a motorcycle-towed cart in Pengambengan.

Investigators are now examining the roles of those suspected of catching, selling, buying and transporting the protected marine animals.

Police also seized a motorcycle, the cart, Rp1.7 million in cash and a boat believed to be linked to the case.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Eight foreign nationals from five countries have been deported from Bali over a range of immigration violations.

The cases included prostitution, overstays, invalid travel documents and unpaid bills.

Among those deported was a Nigerian woman previously detained during an operation targeting foreigners allegedly working in prostitution while holding visit visas.

Other cases involved a Russian woman and her daughter who had overstayed for 318 days, a Nigerian man who had overstayed for more than three years, and several other foreign nationals who violated immigration rules.

Authorities said all eight have also been proposed for inclusion on Indonesia’s immigration blacklist.

A German tourist has died after a serious traffic collision near the Mandalika International Circuit in Central Lombok.

Police said the 48-year-old victim was riding a motorcycle when he was struck from behind by a Nissan Navara driven by a Ukrainian national.

The impact caused the motorcycle to be dragged, while the vehicle overturned and hit a light pole.

The Ukrainian driver and two Russian passengers were also injured and taken to hospital for treatment.

The crash happened near the circuit’s West Gate area, one day before the MotoGP weekend began. Authorities have not said that any of those involved were connected to the event.
