Central University of Jammu Awarded ‘A’ Grade for the Third Consecutive Time in NPTEL SWAYAM Certification

Jammu, 14 July 2025: The Central University of Jammu has once again demonstrated its commitment to academic excellence, with its SWAYAM-NPTEL Local Chapter being awarded an ‘A’ Grade for the third consecutive time in the recently declared results of the NPTEL SWAYAM January–July 2025 session.

This consistent recognition reflects the University’s outstanding performance in online learning initiatives. In this session alone, 28 students were awarded Gold Medals, 237 students received Silver Medals, and 335 students earned Elite Certifications. Furthermore, 8 students ranked in the top 1%, 3 students in the top 2%, and 21 students in the top 5% at the national level—an impressive feat highlighting the dedication and excellence of CU Jammu’s learners.

The National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) is a flagship initiative by the IITs and IISc, funded by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, offering self-study online certification courses in engineering, science, and humanities through the SWAYAM platform.

Congratulating the students and faculty, Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain remarked, “This achievement is a reflection of our continued efforts to empower students with the best learning resources beyond the classroom. Securing an ‘A’ grade for the third time and ranking among the top 100 institutions in India is indeed a proud moment for the university.” He also appreciated the contributions of Prof. J. N. Baliya, SPOC, SWAYAM-NPTEL Local Chapter, for his committed efforts in coordinating and promoting this initiative.

Prof. Baliya, sharing the achievement, stated that the SWAYAM-NPTEL Local Chapter at Central University of Jammu, established in 2017, has been consistently facilitating the enrollment and successful completion of NPTEL courses. He also highlighted that students from the Department of Physics received a Special Disciplinary Award for their exceptional performance in the NPTEL examinations. Prof. Baliya has also been invited to IIT Kanpur for a felicitation ceremony in recognition of the Local Chapter’s success.

This milestone underlines Central University of Jammu’s growing prominence in digital and technology-enhanced learning, offering students and faculty opportunities to gain advanced skills and certifications from India's premier institutes like the IITs and IISc Bangalore.

मनोज सिन्हा को जम्मू-कश्मीर के उपराज्यपाल के तौर पर सेवा देते हुए पांच वर्ष पूरे हो गए हैं. उन्होंने अपने एक इंटरव्यू में पहलगाम हमले पर खुलकर बात की. सिन्हा ने पहलगाम हमले की पूरी जिम्मेदारी लेते हुए कहा कि ये सुरक्षा में भारी चूक थी. उन्होंने कहा कि आतंकवादियों ने यह हमला पर्यटकों पर नहीं बल्कि भारत की आत्मा पर किया है.

मनोज सिन्हा ने पहलगाम हमले को लेकर अपने इंटरव्यू में कहा कि मैं इस घटना की पूरी जिम्मेदारी लेता हूं, क्योंकि यह वास्तव में एक सुरक्षा चूक थी. उन्होंने कहा कि जिस जगह हमला हुआ वह खुला मैदान था और वहां सुरक्षा बलों के लिए कोई सुविधा या जगह नहीं है. इसलिए वहां सुरक्षा बलों की तैनाती भी नहीं है.

DGP J&K Reviews Ops Readiness at SOG Lolab, Stresses Action Against Pakistani Terrorists

Over 10 Amarnath Pilgrims Injured in Bus Collision

More than 10 Amarnath pilgrims sustained injuries after three Yatra vehicles collided near Khudwani, Kulgam on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.

The accident occurred when the convoy en route to Baltal crashed near the Tachloo crossing. Injured pilgrims were initially treated at a local hospital in Qaimoh and later shifted to GMC Anantnag.

Doctors confirmed all injuries are minor and the pilgrims are in stable condition.

🚨 विजयपुर एम्स के पास सड़क हादसा

सांबा जिले के विजयपुर में एम्स के पास एक सड़क हादसा हो गया, जिसमें एक अज्ञात वाहन ने एक कार को जोरदार टक्कर मार दी। हादसे में कार सवार लोग सामान्य रूप से घायल हुए हैं।

हादसे के बाद जम्मू-पठानकोट राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग पर लंबा जाम लग गया। मौके पर पहुंची पुलिस ने स्थिति को संभालते हुए जांच शुरू कर दी है।

ACB Catches Patwari Red-Handed While Taking Bribe in Budgam

J&K Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Tahir Jan Malla, Patwari of Halqa Humchipora, Budgam, while accepting a bribe of ₹2000 for processing land mutation of two sale deeds through the online system.

Acting on a written complaint, ACB conducted discreet verification, which confirmed the bribe demand. A trap was subsequently laid, leading to the arrest of the accused red-handed while taking the bribe.

FIR No. 14/2025 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered at ACB PS Srinagar. The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway.

03 DRUG PEDDLERS ARRESTED; 10.55 GRAMS HE**IN (CHITTA) LIKE SUBSTANCE RECOVERED BY KATHUA POLICE IN TWO SEPARATE INCIDENTS IN THE J/D OF P/S KATHUA & P/S BILLAWAR

:- In its drive against drug smugglers and their propagators, District Police Kathua under the direction and overall supervision of *SSP Kathua Sh. Shobhit Saksena IPS* has arrested 03 drug peddlers in the jurisdiction of Police Station Kathua and P/S Billawar and recovered about 10.55 Grams
He**in (Chitta) like substance( in two separate incidents) from their possession.

In the first instance, A Police team of PS Kathua led by PSI Subham Mahajan IC PP Hatli under the guidance of *Addl. SP Kathua Sh. Rahul Charak JKPS and DySP Hqrs Kathua Sh. Ravinder Singh*, SHO PS Kathua Sh. Sandeep Chib while performing patrolling/vehicle checking , noticed one suspect who was coming from Berrian Pattan Link road towards National Highway 44 for selling he**in like narcotics.During frisking approximately 5.60 Grams of He**in (Chitta) like substance was recovered from his possession who have been identified as:-Vineet Kumar S/o Sohan Lal R/o Ward No. 08 Kathua.Thereafter the accused person have been arrested alongwith contraband item was also seized.In this regard, a case FIR No. 333/2025 U/S 8/21/22/ NDPS Act Act has been registered at PS Kathua and investigation started.

Similarly in another incident, A Police Party of P/s Billawar led by *SHO Billawar Insp Zaheer Mushtaq under the supervision of SDPO Billawar Sh Neeraj Padyar*
established a special naka at Dharamkot Near passenger shed on Malti Road . Two unknown persons were roaming in suspicious circumstances, on seeing police party the unknown persons tried to flee away from the spot but alert Police party did hectic efforts and apprehened them, While questioning they disclosed their name as 1. Mohd.Ramzan S/O Abdul Kuyoom R/O Malti Tehsil Billawar Distt. Kathua (2) Surjeet Singh S/O Bishan Dass R/O Banjal Bhatwal Tehsil Lohai Malhar Distt.Kathua.During their personal search *4.95 grams of He**ine (chitta)* like substance and two mobile phones have been recovered from their possession.In this regard a case FIR No.109/2025 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Billawar further investigation is underway to unearth the forward and backward linkages involved in the supply chain of drug supply in the area.

Thus overall a total of 10.55 Grams of He**ine (Chitta) like Narcotics recovered in both the incidents and three drug peddlers arrested.

District Police Kathua is working hard and taking every necessary step to aware general public especially youth during its regular Anti-Drug awareness Campaigns. Kathua Police also appeals to its citizens to come forward, join hands with police in its fight to eradicate drug menace from society.
