DISTRICT POLICE REASI CRACKS DOWN ON DRUG PEDDLING — HABITUAL OFFENDER ARRESTED WITH HEROIN-LIKE SUBSTANCE IN KATRA

... In a major action against drug trafficking, District Police Reasi today arrested a notorious and habitual drug peddler near Eidgah Nangal Road, Katra. The accused has been identified as Maya Mir W/O Anwar R/O Railway Road, Katra.

During the patrolling and checking duties, the police intercepted the accused and recovered *6.360 grams* of heroin-like substance from her possession. In addition, the following items were seized on the spot:

*Cash amounting to ₹7,900/-*

*Electronic weighing machine*

*A plastic container*

*15 strips of aluminium foil*

Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused is a repeat offender and has a long history of involvement in drug trafficking and other criminal activities. She has previously been involved in the following cases registered at Police Station Katra:

1. FIR No. 205/2021 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act

2. FIR No. 145/2022 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act

3. FIR No. 130/2022 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act

4. FIR No. 379/2021 U/S 323/341 IPC

5. FIR No. 83/2022 U/S 323/341/504/506 IPC

Owing to her repeated involvement in drug-related offences, the accused was also detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in 2022 and lodged in Ambphalla Jail, Jammu.

In this connection, FIR No. 288/2025 has been registered at Police Station Katra under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway to identify her supply network and associated links.

The whole operation was conducted under the leadership of 𝗦𝗛𝗢 𝗣/𝗦 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽. 𝗞𝗵𝘆𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗞𝗵𝗮𝗷𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗮, 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗗𝗣𝗢 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗗𝗿. 𝗕𝗵𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗺 𝗗𝘂𝗯𝗲𝘆, 𝗝𝗞𝗣𝗦 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗣 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗦𝗵. 𝗩𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗻, 𝗝𝗞𝗣𝗦.

Mini Marathon Promotes “Swachh Bharat, Swasth Bharat” at BOP Chakfaquira 🏃🇮🇳

Samba, October 25, 2025:
A Mini Marathon was successfully organized today at BOP Chakfaquira under the aegis of 125 Battalion BSF (Basantar Warriors) as part of the nationwide campaign “Swachh Bharat, Swasth Bharat.”

The 5 km promotional run, which began from Village Kangwal and concluded at BOP Chakfaquira, saw enthusiastic participation from 117 runners — including 83 male and 34 female participants, among them several school students.

The event was graced by Sh. R. S. Yadav, 2IC (Officiating Commandant), Sh. Vijay Bhushan Dubey, DC (Training), Sh. Surjeet Singh, AC, and Sh. Sumit Kumar, AC, along with BSF personnel. Local dignitaries including SI Bodh Raj with three ORs from Police Post Pangdaour, Sh. Darshan Singh (Ex-Sarpanch, Village Kangwal), and 12 prominent villagers from Chakfaquira, Glar, Sinki, Sordi, Pangdour, Kangwala, and Suchetgarh also attended the event.

To encourage a culture of fitness and health, cash prizes were distributed among the winners.

AIIMS Jammu Celebrated CPR Awareness Week Through Multi-Pronged Activities

As per the directives of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, the Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Awareness Week was observed at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Vijaypur, Jammu from 13th to 17th October 2025. The objective of the week was to enhance awareness and skills of this essential life-saving intervention among healthcare professionals, students, and the general public, thereby strengthening the chain of survival within the institution and community settings.

The week commenced with a CPR Pledge on 13th October 2025 at 10:30 AM, led virtually by the Hon’ble Health Secretary. The event was attended by the Medical Superintendent, nursing officers, faculty members, and staff of AIIMS Jammu. Following the inaugural session, a training program on Basic Life Support (BLS) and Hands-Only CPR was conducted for all nursing students of AIIMS Jammu. Subsequently, separate training sessions were organized for MBA students, security personnel, housekeeping staff, and hospital attendants, where they were demonstrated and trained on Hands-Only CPR. More than 1,000 people (students and staff combined) were trained during this week.

Two CPR Awareness Booths were established in the OPD Registration Area and Emergency Department of AIIMS Jammu. The booths operated throughout the week and were dedicated to promoting awareness of CPR among patients, their attendants, and hospital visitors. Demonstrations of CPR techniques were also carried out at the booths. Other activities included quizzes and poster competitions on “CPR Awareness” for nursing officers. Videos demonstrating CPR techniques were displayed at three prominent locations within the institute.

The event was successfully implemented under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta, ED & CEO. The program significantly enhanced awareness, preparedness, and skill competency related to cardiac arrest management among healthcare professionals and community members. This initiative contributed meaningfully toward strengthening the Chain of Survival within and beyond institutional boundaries.
