AIIMS Jammu Launches Advanced Interventional Cath Lab Services

AIIMS Jammu has taken a major stride towards advancing healthcare delivery in the Union Territory with the successful initiation of Interventional Cath Lab services. The launch marks a significant milestone in the institute’s commitment to providing state-of-the-art, minimally invasive, image-guided therapies for the people of Jammu & Kashmir.

The newly established Cath Lab is equipped with the latest Biplane Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) suite, capable of performing a wide spectrum of complex body, neurovascular and cardiovascular procedures. The multidisciplinary team comprises highly trained interventional radiologists, interventional cardiologists and anaesthetists, supported by skilled technologists and nursing staff. Key team members include Dr Ankit Prabhakar, Assistant Professor, Radio-Diagnosis; Dr Mayank Saini, Assistant Professor, Cardiology; Dr Shariq Shah, Assistant Professor, Neuro Radio-Diagnosis; and Dr Zubair Farooq, Assistant Professor, Cardiology.
The Department of Interventional Radiology has already been providing a range of non-vascular, image-guided procedures such as percutaneous biliary and drainage interventions, biopsies, and minimally invasive vascular therapeutic procedures using the DSA machine.
The first few brain angiograms have been successfully performed by the Interventional Neuroradiology team. The procedures included evaluation of a patient with suspected central nervous system vasculitis presenting with young-onset stroke of unknown etiology, and another case in which a para-ophthalmic aneurysm was diagnosed.
With the commencement of Cath Lab services, the Institute will now be able to offer advanced treatment options for brain strokes, aneurysmal bleeds, vascular malformations, and other vascular body interventions such as angioembolizations, in addition to comprehensive cardiac interventions for conditions including angina, arrhythmias and heart blocks.

DG BSF VISITS JAMMU INTERNATIONAL BORDER

Shri Praveen Kumar, IPS, DG BSF, visited the Jammu Frontier to review the security situation along the Jammu International Border. Shri Shashank Anand, IPS, Inspector General, BSF Jammu Frontier, briefed DG BSF on the prevailing security scenario and operational preparedness along the border.

During the visit, DG BSF, accompanied by Shri Satish S. Khandare, IPS, ADG (Western Command), and IG, BSF Jammu, visited the Samba and Kathua border areas. DG BSF reviewed border management system, counter-infiltration grid, and overall security arrangements along the International Border, assessed operational preparedness, and lauded the unwavering commitment, operational excellence, and resilience of BSF Praharis. He also reviewed Smart Border Technology projects focused on strengthening surveillance, operational efficiency, and overall border security.

On the evening of 14 Dec 2025, DG BSF addressed a Prahari Sammelan at Ftr HQ BSF Jammu, praising the troops for their dedication to border duties and emphasising the need to maintain effective border domination to thwart anti-national activities. District Police Samba, in collaboration with Government Degree College (GDC) Samba, successfully organized a major awareness lecture today at 12:00 PM as part of the nationwide Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (Drug-Free India Campaign). The initiative aimed to educate and sensitize students about the severe risks associated with drug abuse and actively promote a healthy, addiction-free future.



The program was executed under the guidance of College Principal, Prof. Dr. Meeru Abrol, who praised the District Police for selecting the educational campus as a crucial venue for such awareness drives. In her address, Dr. Abrol stressed the necessity of these programs within academic settings; urging students to remain disciplined and committed to fostering a drug-free community.



Shri G. R. Bhardwaj, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), delivered a powerful and motivational lecture, comprehensively outlining the devastating physical, psychological, and social ramifications of drug addiction. His address successfully inspired students to make positive, life-affirming choices.



Further emphasizing the collective responsibility in this fight, DySP Shri Arjun Chib highlighted the critical partnership required between law enforcement, educational institutions, and the youth to effectively combat the drug menace.



The session featured contributions from Inspector Asha Nand and Ms. Pallavi Rajput, who served as Resource Persons. Inspector Asha Nand concluded the event by summarizing key messages and encouraging the students to become ambassadors of awareness in their own neighbourhoods.

SAMBA POLICE FOILS BOVINE SMUGGLING ATTEMPT; ARRESTS A BOVINE SMUGGLER, RESCUES 02 BOVINES

Samba.. Continuing its drive against bovine smugglers and their propagators, Samba Police has successfully foiled a bovine smuggling attempt in the jurisdiction of Police Station Bari Brahmana, arrested a bovine smuggler and rescued two (02) bovines from the clutches of bovine smuggler. The vehicle used in the illegal transportation of bovines was also seized.

A Police team of Police Station Bari Brahmana during special naka near BBIA Club Industrial area Bari Brahmana, intercepted an auto load carrier bearing registration number JK02DC- 1474 for its checking. During checking, two bovines were found inside the vehicle which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally without any valid permission. All the bovines have been rescued and the vehicle has also been seized.

The bovine smuggler identified as Suhdev Singh S/o Hans Raj R/o Kargal, Bari Brahmana has been arrested.

A case FIR No. 210/2025 u/s 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Bari Brahmana and investigation started.

Public Centric Development is the Right of Every Citizen : Dr. Devender Kumar Manyal

: Dr. Devender Kumar Manyal, MLA Ramgarh and Former Minister for Health and Medical Education, J&K, today kick-started and inaugurated multiple development works at different locations across the Ramgarh Assembly Constituency, reiterating that development is the fundamental right of the people and a key pillar of good governance.

At Ramgarh, Dr. Manyal kick-started the construction of a Volleyball Ground with an estimated cost of ₹9 lakh, aimed at promoting sports culture, channelising youth energy in a positive direction, and encouraging physical fitness among young people.

Under the Municipal Committee Ramgarh, the MLA also kick-started the construction of a Self Point and Passenger Shed at an estimated cost of ₹4 lakh, which will provide shelter and basic facilities to commuters and the general public.

In Village Sanoora, Rajpura Block, Dr. Manyal kick-started the construction of two sheds at an estimated cost of ₹5 lakh and also inaugurated lane and drain works amounting to ₹2.50 lakh. These works are focused on strengthening basic civic infrastructure, improving sanitation, and enhancing the overall quality of life for the local residents.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Manyal said that these development initiatives are being executed in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who believes that development must reach every doorstep and is the rightful entitlement of every citizen. He added that priority is being given to need-based, inclusive, and sustainable development, especially in rural and municipal areas.

नवोदय में कक्षा छठी की चयन परीक्षा में जिला सांबा के अभ्यर्थियों ने दर्ज करवाई 85.75 प्रतिशत उपस्थिति
जवाहर नवोदय विद्यालय सांबा द्वारा कक्षा छह में प्रवेश के लिए चयन परीक्षा (जेएनवीएसटी) जिले के छह परीक्षा केंद्रों, राजकीय उच्चतर माध्यमिक विद्यालय घगवाल, स्मैलपुर, रामगढ़, गर्ल्स सांबा, बॉयज सांबा और विजयपुर में सफलतापूर्वक आयोजित की गई। इस चयन परीक्षा का आयोजन नवोदय विद्यालय समिति एवं सीबीएसई के दिशा निर्देशों के अनुसार किया गया। जिले के विभिन्न हिस्सों से आए छात्रों ने इस परीक्षा में उत्साहपूर्वक भाग लिया। परीक्षा केंद्रों की व्यवस्थाओं को सुचारू रूप से संचालित करने के लिए पर्याप्त संख्या में जिला प्रशासन, मुख्य शिक्षा अधिकारी व नवोदय विद्यालय द्वारा स्टाफ और पर्यवेक्षक नियुक्त किए गए थे। छात्रों और उनके अभिभावकों ने विद्यालय प्रशासन द्वारा की गई व्यवस्थाओं की सराहना की। विद्यालय के उप प्राचार्य डॉ. डी. एस. सकलानी ने बताया कि यह चयन परीक्षा ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों के प्रतिभाशाली छात्रों को गुणवत्तापूर्ण शिक्षा प्रदान करने की दिशा में एक महत्वपूर्ण कदम है। नवोदय विद्यालय समिति के चंडीगढ़ संभाग के 32 विद्यालयों में छठी कक्षा में प्रवेश के लिए इस परीक्षा का आयोजन किया गया जिसमें सांबा जिले से 85.75 प्रतिशत अभ्यर्थियों ने अपनी उपस्थिति दर्ज करवाई जो सांबा जिले के अभिभावकों के लिए एक बहुत बड़ी उपलब्धि है। परीक्षा प्रभारी रोहित शर्मा ने बताया कि घगवाल केंद्र पर कुल पंजीकृत 156 अभ्यर्थियों में से 138, स्मैलपुर में 99 में से 75, रामगढ़ में 94 में से 79, गर्ल्स सांबा में 120 में से 106, बॉयज सांबा में 133 में से 125 और विजयपुर केंद्र में 142 में से 115 अभ्यर्थियों ने इस चयन परीक्षा में भाग लिया। जिला सांबा से कुल 744 अभ्यर्थियों ने इस परीक्षा के लिए ऑनलाइन माध्यम से पंजीकरण करवाया था जिसमें से 638 अभ्यर्थियों ने परीक्षा में भाग लिया। उन्होंने परीक्षा के सफल आयोजन के लिए जिलाधिकारी सांबा, मुख्य शिक्षा अधिकारी, सभी क्षेत्रीय शिक्षा अधिकारीयों, केंद्र अधीक्षकों, केंद्र स्तर के पर्यवेक्षकों, शिक्षकों एवं अन्य स्टाफ के सदस्यों का धन्यवाद किया। परीक्षा परिणाम नवोदय विद्यालय समिति की आधिकारिक वेबसाइट पर निर्धारित समय पर प्रकाशित किया जाएगा। अभ्यर्थी अपने परिणाम संबंधित जानकारी के लिए नियमित रूप से वेबसाइट चेक करते रहें।

PM Modi’s Transformative Reforms Powering Roads and Village Development: MLA Ramgarh

: MLA Ramgarh and Former Minister for Health & Medical Education, Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, highlighted today that the ongoing development works across the Ramgarh Constituency are a direct reflection of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s transformative reforms, which continue to accelerate rural progress, strengthen connectivity, and improve public amenities.

As part of these initiatives, Dr. Manyal inaugurated and kick-started several key works focused on road improvement and village infrastructure. These include the upgradation and blacktopping of rural roads under PMGSY, taken up at an estimated cost of ₹42 lakh, to ensure smooth mobility for residents in the International Border Area. Additionally, multiple civic works were initiated, including lane work in Village Abtal (₹3 lakh) and drain work in Village Dug (₹3.50 lakh), aimed at enhancing drainage facilities and improving local accessibility.

A major highlight of the day was the inauguration of a newly constructed Steel Truss Shed along with tile work, developed at an estimated cost of ₹6 lakh, providing a durable and weather-resistant public space for community gatherings. Further strengthening village infrastructure, Dr. Manyal also kick-started the construction of a Community Hall at Village Trindi, to be developed at an estimated cost of ₹30 lakh, which will significantly support social and cultural activities for local residents.

Dr. Manyal reiterated that these development works address long-standing public demands and reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that every village in the Ramgarh Constituency receives its rightful share of development. He emphasized that improved infrastructure remains central to raising the standard of living and promoting inclusive growth at the grassroots level. He added that all these development works, amounting to a combined estimate of ₹84.50 lakh, reflect Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji’s vision of transforming rural India through sustainable and impactful development.

J&K Police Kathua Arrested Absconding Person in Recovery Warrant at Billawar

Kathua; In continuation to its drive against the absconders/criminals, J&K Police Kathua successfully traced out and arrested one person namely *Darshan Kumar S/O Jia Lal R/O Seri Dhar Dugnoo Tehsil Billawar Distt Kathua* from Ludhiana, Punjab, against whom recovery warrant had already issued and also directed to Higher Ups for strict Compliance.

In this regard, a Police team of P/S Billawar led by *SHO PS Billawar Insp. AIIMS Jammu Conducts Mega Emergency Preparedness Drill with NDRF

AIIMS Jammu today conducted a large-scale Emergency Preparedness Mock Drill in collaboration with the 13 Battalion National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), demonstrating the institute’s growing capability to manage high-pressure disaster situations with precision. The exercise recreated a complex mass-casualty scenario within the hospital premises and involved coordinated participation from clinical, administrative, and security units.

A specialised NDRF team from 13 BN, led by Deputy Commandant Praveen Singh Charak, executed high-intensity rescue operations including structural evacuation, victim stabilisation, rapid triage, crowd management, and safe transfer of casualties to designated medical zones.
Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta, Executive Director & CEO, AIIMS Jammu, lauded the professionalism of the NDRF personnel and the hospital staff. He said, “AIIMS Jammu is a national institution entrusted with a critical responsibility. Emergency readiness is at the core of our mission. Drills like these test our systems under real-world pressure and ensure that our medical teams, security personnel, and administrative units are capable of responding with accuracy, coordination, and speed. This joint exercise with NDRF strengthens our institutional confidence and enhances our preparedness for any situation that may arise.”
The drill was meticulously coordinated by Col. Sanjay Garg, Deputy Director Administration, who led the administrative and logistical arrangements with precision, showcasing AIIMS Jammu’s readiness and operational excellence. Wg Cdr Dheeraj Jamwal (Retd.), Deputy Chief Security Officer, ensured seamless communication, resource mobilisation, and inter-departmental coordination throughout the exercise.
Doctors, nurses, residents, paramedical staff, security personnel, engineering teams, and administrative officials actively participated, demonstrating strong institutional unity. Media coverage highlighted AIIMS Jammu’s proactive approach to crisis management and public safety.
The exercise reinforced AIIMS Jammu’s commitment to world-class disaster preparedness and strengthened collaborations with national emergency response agencies. SAMBA POLICE NABBED LADY DRUG PEDDLER WITH 14.22 GRAMS HE**IN LIKE SUBSTANCE ALONGWITH CASH OF RUPEES 87140.00

Samba: Intensifying its drive against drug smugglers & peddlers, Samba Police has arrested a lady drug peddler in the jurisdiction of Police Station Vijaypur and recovered approximately 14.22 grams he**in like substance alongwith cash of rupees 87140.00 and one weighing machine from her possession.

Acting swiftly on an information received from reliable sources, a team of Police Station Vijaypur conducted a raid at Rakh Barotian Vijaypur and arrested a lady drug peddler from her residence who was involved in selling of he**in among youth of the area. During the search, the police has recovered approximately 14.22 grams of he**in-like substance alongwith cash amounting to Rs 87,140.00 and one weighing machine from the possession of said lady drug peddler.

The arrested lady drug peddler has been identified as Alam Bibi W/o Noor Alam R/o Rakh Barotian, Vijaypur. The contraband substance alongwith cash and other item have been seized on the spot.

In this regard, a case FIR No. 139/2025 under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Vijaypur and investigation started.

World Human Rights Day Commemorated at Dogra Law College, Bari Brahmana, Samba

Samba, December 11, 2025:
The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Samba, under the patronage of the Hon’ble Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority, the Worthy Member Secretary, J&K Legal Services Authority, and the Worthy Chairman, DLSA Samba, organized a programme to commemorate World Human Rights Day at Dogra Law College, Bari Brahmana, Samba.

Aim & Objectives

The programme was conducted with the aim of enhancing awareness among law students about human rights and encouraging their participation in promoting justice, equality, and legal empowerment.
Key objectives included:

Sensitizing students about the constitutional and legal framework protecting human rights in India.

Highlighting the role of legal services institutions in providing free legal aid and safeguarding the rights of vulnerable and marginalized communities.

Promoting youth engagement in advancing human rights and access to justice.

The event saw the participation of Ms. Assma Choudhary, Secretary DLSA Samba; Deputy LADC Ms. Suman Bhagat (Resource Person); Assistant LADC Ms. Versha Anthal (Resource Person); members of the Governing Committee of Dogra Law College including Sh. Keynote Address

Secretary DLSA Samba delivered an insightful keynote address focusing on Constitutional guarantees under Part III and Part IV, emphasizing dignity, liberty, equality, and justice. She also highlighted the crucial role of Legal Services Authorities in spreading legal awareness, providing free legal aid, organizing Lok Adalats, and ensuring access to justice for weaker sections of society.
An interactive session followed, during which students actively participated and raised thoughtful questions on human rights and legal aid mechanisms.

Conclusion & Internship Opportunity

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks to the faculty and administration of Dogra Law College for their cooperation. The Secretary appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the students and reaffirmed DLSA Samba’s commitment to organizing similar awareness initiatives.

A key highlight of the event was the announcement of an internship programme with DLSA Samba, offering students hands-on exposure to legal aid processes, participation in outreach programmes, and interaction with panel lawyers and beneficiaries. RAMGARH : Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, MLA Ramgarh and Former Minister for Health & Medical Education, J&K, today graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and inaugurated the Two-Day District Kisan Mela/Workshop organised by the Department of Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare, UT of J&K.
