*REASI POLICE RECOVERS 67 MISSING MOBILE PHONES; YATRIS’ PHONES TO BE SENT BY COURIER*

Reasi, October 5, 2026: In a significant achievement in the fight against cybercrime, Reasi Police has recovered 67 missing mobile phones worth ₹12.60 lakh during August–September 2026, taking the total number of mobile phones recovered and handed over to their rightful owners to 273, including 206 mobile phones handed over on July 24, 2026. In addition, Reasi Police has successfully traced ₹36.12 lakh lost by victims in cyber frauds during 2026, reaffirming its commitment to providing prompt cyber assistance to citizens and safeguarding their digital assets.

The Cyber Police Station, Reasi, successfully traced and recovered 67 missing mobile phones belonging to local residents as well as pilgrims visiting the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine and Shiv Khori Shrine. The recovered phones are being handed over to their rightful owners after completion of the prescribed legal formalities. In the case of pilgrims who have already left the district, the recovered mobile phones will be sent to their respective addresses through courier/parcel services, facilitating hassle-free return of their belongings.

In another significant achievement, the Cyber Police Station has traced and recovered ₹36.12 lakh lost by victims in various cyber fraud cases reported during 2026. Of this amount, ₹23.60 lakh has already been refunded to the victims after obtaining the requisite court orders. The remaining recovered amount is presently under due legal process and will be released to the rightful claimants upon completion of the necessary formalities.

Reasi Police has appealed to citizens and pilgrims to report the loss of mobile phones immediately at the nearest Police Station or Police Post. While reporting a missing mobile phone, the IMEI number should be provided, as it is essential for tracing and recovery of the device. The IMEI number can be obtained by dialling * #06 # on the mobile phone.

Pilgrims who have already left the district without reporting the loss may share details of their missing mobile phone, along with the IMEI number, at [email protected] for necessary action.

The public is also advised to remain vigilant while using digital platforms and to report any cyber fraud immediately by calling the National Cyber Crime Helpline at 1930 or by lodging a complaint through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.

*REASI POLICE DETAINS HABITUAL CRIMINAL UNDER PSA*

*Reasi, September 30, 2026:* In a significant action aimed at maintaining public order and ensuring peace and security in the district, Reasi Police has detained a habitual criminal under the provisions of the J&K Public Safety Act (PSA), 1978.

The detenue, Shivaji Singh S/o Jaswant Singh R/o Raipur Domana, Jammu, presently residing at Katra, has been detained under PSA Order No. 02-PSA of 2026 dated 30.09.2026, issued by the District Magistrate, Reasi. The detenue has been lodged in District Jail Udhampur.

The individual has been repeatedly involved in criminal activities, with several cases registered against him at different police stations. Despite having faced arrests in multiple cases earlier, he continued to engage in activities detrimental to public peace and order.

The cases registered against him include:

1. FIR No. 292/2022 under Sections 341/323/504/506/147 IPC, Police Station Katra.
2. FIR No. 106/2025 under Sections 126(2)/115(2)/3(5) BNS, Police Station Katra.
3. FIR No. 258/2026 under Sections 126(2)/127(2)/191(2)/191(3)/109/351(2) BNS and 4/25 Arms Act, Police Station Katra.
4. FIR No. 14/2026 under Sections 132/121/191 BNS, Police Station Railway Station Katra.

Police investigation and intelligence inputs revealed his continued involvement in criminal activities and attempts to establish a network for facilitating such activities, posing a threat to public peace and tranquility in the area.

Accordingly, Reasi Police prepared a detailed dossier highlighting his criminal antecedents and activities prejudicial to the maintenance of public order. On the basis of the dossier, the competent authority issued the PSA detention order, which was executed successfully today, following which the detenue was shifted to District Jail Udhampur.

Reasi Police remains committed to maintaining peace and public order in the district and will continue to take firm and lawful action against habitual offenders and individuals involved in activities that threaten the safety and security of the public.

*FAREWELL FUNCTION HELD AT DPL REASI TO HONOUR RETIRING POLICE PERSONNEL*

*Reasi, September 30:* A farewell function was organised today at District Police Lines (DPL) Reasi to honour ASI Jai Singh and SgCt Mohd Aslam, who retired from active service after rendering dedicated and valuable services to the Police Department.

On the occasion, SSP Reasi, felicitated the retiring personnel and appreciated their commitment, dedication and valuable contribution during their respective tenures in the Police Department. SSP also conveyed his best wishes to the retiring personnel and their families for a healthy, peaceful and prosperous life ahead.

Police officers and personnel of District Reasi attended the farewell function and conveyed their warm wishes to the retiring officials. They also expressed appreciation for their contribution and dedicated service to the department.

The event reflected the department's tradition of recognising and honouring the sincere and dedicated services rendered by its personnel throughout their careers.

*REASI POLICE CRACK DOWN ON DRUG TRAFFICKING; 6.65 GRAMS HE**IN RECOVERED, TWO ARRESTED*

*Reasi, September 30:* Continuing its drive against the menace of drug trafficking and abuse, Reasi Police recovered 6.65 grams of he**in from the possession of two persons during naka checking at Chungi Point, Katra.

On September 29, 2026, at about 2050 hours, a naka party of Police Station Katra was conducting routine vehicle-cum-pedestrian checking at Chungi Point, Katra. During the checking, two persons proceeding on foot from Balini towards Bus Stand, Katra, were intercepted and subjected to checking.

During their search, 6.65 gms of he**in like substance was recovered from their possession. The accused persons were identified as Vinay Kumar S/o Kunj Lal, R/o Bhagtha, Katra, and Deepak Gupta S/o Surinder Gupta, R/o Main Bazar, Katra.

Accordingly, FIR No. 310/2026 under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra. Investigation has been initiated, with backward and forward linkage analysis being undertaken to identify the source and intended recipients of the contraband.

Reasi Police reiterates its commitment to taking stringent action against drug trafficking and dismantling the networks involved in the illegal drug trade.

*Anti-Begging Drive Conducted by Team Child Helpline Reasi and SMILE Shelter Home in Katra*

Today, Team Child Helpline Reasi, in collaboration with the SMILE Scheme, Katra, conducted an anti-begging drive at Banganga Track and Katra Main Town during the late hours.

During the drive, the team identified and rescued 9 children found engaged in begging activities. The team immediately intervened and brought the children to safety.

A DD entry was made at Police Station Katra, following which the children were taken for medical examination. After completion of the necessary medical formalities, the children will be produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Reasi, for further care, protection, assessment and rehabilitation as per the applicable provisions of law.

The ages and other details of the children have not yet been confirmed. The same will be verified and confirmed before the Child Welfare Committee, Reasi, during the process of assessment and production.
