We *MIGHT* see temps lower into the high 80s next week. It’s more likely toward the end of the week into the weekend (26-28).

If I was explaining the current patterns to 8th graders I would describe it as a battle going between a very big army of hot air (red area) and a smaller army of cold air (light blue area). So far that cold air we need hasn’t been able to get past the enemy lines and break through. Precipitation is expected to come into Oklahoma and the Panhandle soon and that *SHOULD* give that cooler system some help.

Also, this year has also been abnormal in the gulf with zero hurricanes this season. While you never want a catastrophic landfall, we do usually get some relief from tropical storms helping to break down the big “heat army”.

Keep praying for rain and for the love of all, STOP BURNING 🔥 until God answers those prayers! 😘🙏

FM 906 E has been opened to thru traffic. Please use caution as there are still Fire Departments on scene.

Lamar County Fire Departments are currently working a structure fire and grass fire involving several acres. FM 906 E has been closed to thru traffic from the 1300 block to the 2000 block. Please do not attempt to use these roads and stay away from the scene.

Stop burning!!! 🤦‍♀️🚫🔥

Lamar County Texas 9/14/26 is in VERY HIGH and EXTREME FIRE DANGER. Tickets are being issued for burn ban violations by law enforcement. Do not burn anything. That means trash, burn piles, campfires, burn pits, ci******es thrown, anything. We were out all afternoon yesterday on fires. This is serious.

Update: Paris also has a statement for small hail and strong wind.
We actually have some decent storm cells in the area! Bagwell has a Special Weather Statement for 40 mph wind and *maybe* pea-size hail. I’ve said it wasn’t going to rain and washed my car so I’ve done my part!🤪 Keep praying and maybe we will get more than the 0.04” forecasted.

Will it rain?? Will it not?? 🤔☔️🌧️
I’m usually wrong about rain 🤣 so hopefully I will say this and it will come a downpour.. but I’m not expecting much for NETX. Our neighbors to the north and west, sure. So far we are predicted to only get about an hour of rain that accumulates to around 0.1 inches.

The good news though?? Friday’s high is only 90! (With a RealFeel of 99 so don’t bust out the pumpkin spice just yet.)

We have a few pop up storms in the area. A lucky few will get a decent shower but nothing crazy. I don’t know about y’all but I’m about ready for some real storms again if it would cut this heat! 😅🥵
