SBI ATM VANDALISATION AND ATTEMPTED ROBERY CASE OF AALO PS SOLVED
Background-In the early hours of 18th October 2025, Aalo Police Station received information regarding an attempt to steal cash from the SBI ATM located near the Petrol Pump, New Market, Aalo.
On reaching the spot, police found the ATM booth filled with smoke and engulfed in fire. The fire was promptly brought under control with the assistance of the Aalo Fire Station. Preliminary investigation revealed that the fire had occurred during an attempt to cut open the ATM/CDM machine using a metal cutter.
Accordingly, Aalo PS Case No. 59/25 was registered under Sections 324(3)/324(4)/324(5)/331(4)/305(e)/62 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the case investigated by Sub-inspector Nending Kojing.
It was further noticed that similar ATM robbery and attempted robbery had earlier been reported from Roing and Pasighat. Keeping in view the possibility of the offenders using National Highway routes to commit further such crimes, alerts were issued by the IO of the case and OC PS Aalo under the direction of SP Aalo to the Officers-in-Charge of Basar, Likhabali, Daporijo, Raga and Ziro Police Stations.
On 18th December 2025, during naka checking at Daporijo, alert Daporijo Police detained two suspicious persons along with an LPG cylinder, oxygen cylinder, gas cutter and other house-breaking tools, which were being transported in a vehicle bearing Registration No. DL-8CAW-7611. One accomplice, however, managed to flee from the spot.
The detained persons were identified as:
• Shahrukh Khan, aged 32 years
• Saddam @ Saddam Khan, aged 38 years
Both are originally from Muzaffarnagar District, Uttar Pradesh, and were presently residing in the Jonai area of Assam.
During verification, it was revealed that Shahrukh Khan was previously involved in a similar ATM loot incident in Guwahati, Assam, in which he had been arrested earlier.
Subsequently, on 19th December 2025, the absconding accused Mohd Hasim, aged 33 years, a resident of Mewat District, Haryana, was apprehended from the Likhabali check gate. Further verification revealed that Mohd Hasim was also involved in a similar ATM loot case in Guwahati, Assam, and had been arrested in connection with that incident.
All three accused persons have been formally arrested by Aalo Police, and further investigation is in progress to ascertain their involvement in other similar offences and to identify additional associates.
During the course of investigation and interrogation it was revealed that accused Shahrukh khan while at guwahaty jail for the offence of receiver of stolen property meet accused Mohd Hasim who was lodged at Guwahaty jail for the same offence of ATM robbery.At guwahaty jail both the accused planed to form a gang from different states and conduct robbery/theft at different places of Arunachal pradesh.After coming out from Guwahaty jail Shahrukh khan settled at weekly market area of jonai and used to roam around various district of AP with special focus on ATM. Shahrukh after confirming the target used to call Hasim from Haryana who in turn bring other members of their gang from Haryana and Rajasthan.The gang meet at pre designated location and commit the crime of theft/robbery.The money was equally divided among themselves and they return back to their respective states.Again after few months they plan and again execute the crime.Modus operandi of the gang is to target locations far from their states,commit crime and return back to their states to escape from law enforcing agency.
West Siang Police reaffirms its commitment to maintaining public safety and urges citizens to immediately report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
Further West Siang Police also thanked Daporijo Police and Likabali Police for helping in nabbing the accused from their respective locations.
