𝐌𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐑𝐁𝐏

Dear Students,

As your schools prepare to close for the summer vacations, I know you must be eagerly looking forward to meeting your parents, friends, and relatives. This holiday is a precious time to reconnect — to share quality moments, laughter, and experiences with those who matter most.
But before you go, I want to speak to you not just as a police officer, but as a parent, as someone who has sat at a kitchen table worrying about their own child, and as someone who has, too many times in uniform, stood at doorstep delivering news that broke a family's heart. I do not want that doorstep to ever be yours.
Go home and be present. Help your mother carry the groceries. Sit with your father in the evening. Sweep the floor without being asked. These small acts are not beneath you - they are the building blocks of the person you are becoming. Your family has sacrificed for you. This is your season to give something back, even in the smallest ways.
Make new friends, create beautiful memories, and treasure experiences that you will reflect on with pride in the years to come. Remember always: this is not the time to come into conflict with the law, nor to let down your parents, teachers, or friends.
Stay away from trouble. Not because you fear punishment, but because you are better than that. I have seen young people full of promise make one careless decision and carry the consequences for the rest of their lives. Drugs, violence, theft, reckless behavior, these things do not announce themselves as dangers. They creep in through boredom, through the wrong crowd, through a single moment of poor judgment. Do not give them an opening.
As a police officer, I have held young people in handcuffs who wept and said, "I didn't mean for this to happen." And I believed them. But by then, the moment had already passed. Don't let that be your story.
Instead, use this vacation to involve yourself in meaningful and constructive engagements — activities that promote discipline, responsibility, and community values. Take part in recreational pursuits that encourage self‑growth, bring happiness to your family and friends, and strengthen your bonds with society.
You are not just students on holiday. You are the future of this community. Every responsible choice you make this summer is a quiet investment in the person you will be tomorrow.
May your summer be filled with joy, learning, and meaningful engagements that shape you into responsible citizens and cherished members of your community.

With genuine care, deep concern, and great hope,

Colonel Passang, Dorji, DNY
Deputy Chief of Police,
