The bridge that comes from Sweden turns into a tunnel under the sea and reappears in Denmark; both countries united by this wonderful work of Engineering.
It has a total length of 16 kilometers and connects Denmark with Sweden through the Øresund Strait. The Oresund Bridge was built in 2000 and allows the passage of cars (highway) and trains between Denmark and Sweden. Before its construction, all traffic between the two countries was carried out by ferry.

Joseph Merrick, commonly known as the Elephant Man, was an Englishman who lived in the late 19th century and became famous for his severe physical deformities, which were likely caused by neurofibromatosis type 1 and proteus syndrome.

Born in 1862, Merrick's condition led to immense societal stigma and isolation. He was exhibited as a curiosity in freak shows until he was rescued by Dr. Frederick Treves, who provided him care and support.

Merrick's life story reflects both the cruelty of Victorian society and the compassion of individuals like Treves.

He became a symbol of human dignity, illustrating the complexity of identity and acceptance.

Merrick passed away in 1890 at the age of 27, and his skull and some of his remains are preserved in the Joseph Merrick Museum in London, serving as a poignant reminder of his life and the ongoing discussions about disability and humanity...

In Namibia’s Etosha National Park, elephants often appear ghostly white—covered in a layer of pale clay and calcite dust from the park’s dry, mineral-rich landscape. These mud baths help them cool off in the scorching 40°C heat while offering protection from the sun and parasites. The result is a surreal and striking look that makes them seem like creatures from another world.
This powerful moment was captured by Anja Denker, a renowned wildlife photographer whose work showcases the raw beauty and wonder of Africa’s wildlife.

A turtle's shell is a living part of its body, with nerves connecting to the central nervous system, meaning they can feel pain and pleasure through their shell.
Unlike some reptiles, turtles do not shed their shells.
The shape and structure of the shell can vary depending on the species, with some being streamlined for swimming and others being domed for terrestrial habitats.

Fun Fact: Pufferfish release a toxin when they puff out that is meant to impair the attacker, so they can safely escape. Ironically, this doesn’t work on dolphins in the same way.. it actually gets them high. So they purposely inflate them and pass them around to their dolphin friends for fun.

20 years ago, my twin sister and I ran away in the wee hours of the morning of January 17, 1997. It was -9 degrees out that morning.
No one knows how long we were gone but immediately after my dad noticed we were missing and called the police. They didn't know where to start. Officers got stuck going up a hill and got out to figure out how to get free. Officer Kister found footprints that lead into an alley. He then found kids shoes, and continued following the footprints. Then Officer Kister and Officer Wagner found Kourtney and I in the snow. Kourtney was hovering over me, and told Officer Wagner 'Please, help my sister.' I was unconscious.
They ran us to their cruisers and took off for the hospital. Officer Wagner informed me I was slowly dying in his arms as we arrived to the hospital. Upon arrival they accepted Kourtney but I was so close to death they llife-lighted to a nearby hospital where the only known doctor could do a warming blood transfusion. It is where they made two incisions in me and warmed up my blood. I was then in a coma, and the odds didn't look promising that I'd wake up. Doctors told my parents even if I did wake up the possibility of brain damage was high. Shortly after all of that talk, I woke up with no immediate signs of damage.
After months in the hospital and endless physical therapy we got to go home. Today, I am writing to share our story. My sister and I owe the Omaha Police Department, and Officer Kister and Officer Wagner everything. I am so thankful, and want to share this miracle of a story to everyone. Police are good, God is good and sometimes people just need a reminder of that."
