From the Eastern Himalyan region, by our telescopic eyes and minds, it appears to us-the Schedule Tribes that the BJP’s PM Modi ji's and HHM Shah ji's denial of Statehood alongwith the inclusion of the 6th Schedule Rights to Ladakh is a betrayal to people’s hopes and aspirations based on the election promises and assurances of the BJP led Central Govt.
The BJP-led Union Government for continuously denying the people of Ladakh their rightful demand for Statehood and inclusion under the 6th Schedule of the Constitution is objectionable and condemnable.
The people of Ladakh, after the abrogation of Article 370 and the bifurcation of Jammu & Kashmir in 2019, were assured greater empowerment and development. Instead, they have been pushed into a state of political disempowerment, loss of land rights, and denial of constitutional safeguards.
The refusal of the BJP Government to grant 6th Schedule status to Ladakh is clearly exposes it's double standard:
1. On one hand, BJP claims to protect tribal culture and indigenous rights, but on the other hand, it refuses Ladakhis the same protections enjoyed by tribals in Northeast India.
2. While BJP celebrates slogans like “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”, in reality, it is centralizing all powers in Delhi and snatching away local decision-making powers.
3. The BJP Government in the Centre is more interested in exploiting Ladakh’s land, minerals, and tourism potential than safeguarding the cultural identity and traditional rights of its people.
4. The people of Ladakh are not second-class citizens. Their aspirations for democratic self-governance, protection of land and jobs, and preservation of tribal identity must be respected.
Arunachal Pradesh has already faced Constitutional and Administrative blunders as an aftermath of its great blunders today our Arunachal Pradesh is in chaotic State and in a tortoise slow speed manner of development and progress.
Our state was given the Statehood with Article 371H without Constitutional Rights, Protections and ownership over our Jal- Jungle- Zameen. The Article 371H empowers more powers to the Governor and no Legislative Autonomy to the Legislatures, and absent from the inclusion of 6th Schedule with an excuse that Arunachal Pradesh is in a Strategic sensitive Frontier State. Then AAPSU leaders revolted CM Apang ji but he was innocently tyrant over our youths and college students who were vehemently opposed the grant of the early Statehood without protective Article and the inclusion of the 6th Schedule Status. Instead he harassed our former AAPSU leaders like Shri BOSIRAM SIRAM who was rusticated, expelled and banned him from studying in the Jawaharlal Nehru College, Pasighat.
Atleast the Article 371H should have been given the equal status and rights at par with Nagaland Article 371A and Mizoram Article 371G. Each of these states enjoys full ownership and rights over their land, mineral resources and water bodies.
The Ladakhis are very smart enough to demand Statehood for their Union Territory Ladakh with inclusive of the 6th Schedule Status.
We join our hearta, minds and hands together in demanding that the Union Government immediately:
1. Grant full Statehood to Ladakh with legislative powers and autonomy.
2. Extend 6th Schedule Status for Rights and protections to safeguard land, jobs, resources, and cultural identity of Ladakh’s indigenous people.
3. Stop treating Ladakh merely as a strategic territory and start respecting it as a homeland of proud citizens.
4. Let us stand shoulder to shoulder with the Ladakhis for their Democratic struggle for justice, dignity, and constitutional rights.
