The Framed Story Of Kuben Lantin
A long time ago, in the late 1700s, European slave traders came to Africa and captured over 1000 people, including children. They wanted to sell them as slaves in America. The villagers were taken by surprise and couldn't defend themselves. The slave traders were cruel and heartless, beating and chaining their captives.
The journey to America was called the Middle Passage. It was a terrible experience. The people were packed tightly into small ships with little food, water, or air. Many got sick, and some died. Children were taken away from their parents, and some never saw them again. The people were treated like animals, not humans.
One man, Kuben Lantin, had been a slave himself, but he had escaped. He knew what it was like to be treated cruelly and wanted to help others. He gathered a team of 7 men who were also willing to fight for freedom. They were all different, but they shared a common goal.
There was Jelani, who had lost his family to the slave traders. Akua was a skilled healer who had seen the suffering of the captives. Kwame was a young warrior eager to prove himself. The others were all survivors of the Middle Passage, each with their own scars.
Together, they traveled through the jungle, following the slave traders' path. They met other people who had been captured and freed them. The children were very scared, but Kuben was kind and helped them feel better. He told them stories of his own escape and the freedom they would soon have.
When they got to the slave traders' fort, Kuben came up with a plan. They would sneak in at night, create a distraction, and free the captives. The team worked together, fighting bravely. Jelani created a diversion at the front gate, while Kwame and two others snuck in through a side door. Akua and the others tended to the wounded and helped the captives escape.
