ISTANBUL -- A magnitude 6.1 earthquake struck Turkey’s northwestern province of Balikesir on Sunday, killing at least one person and causing more than a dozen buildings to collapse, officials said. At least 29 people were injured.

The earthquake, with an epicenter in the town of Sindirgi, sent shocks that were felt some 200 kilometers (125 miles) to the north in Istanbul - a city of more than 16 million people.

An elderly woman died shortly after being pulled out alive from the debris of a collapsed building in Sindirgi, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya told reporters. Four other people were rescued from the building.

Yerlikaya said a total of 16 buildings collapsed in the region - most of them derelict and unused. Two mosque minarets also tumbled down, he said.

None of the injured were in serious condition, the minister said.

Television footage showed rescue teams asking for silence so they can listen for signs of life beneath the rubble.

“The Day We Went to the Stream”

The first day Joshua Stellar Maris came to my house was something I’ll always remember — not just because she’s a brilliant content creator, but because she came with someone even more special: her younger sister, my fiancée.

There was a unique kind of joy in the air. Joshua walked in with that signature energy — camera hanging from her shoulder, eyes scanning everything like life itself was a scene waiting to be captured. Her sister, my love, stood beside her, already at home in my space, her presence grounding and warm.

We talked for a while, laughed a lot, and then someone — I can’t remember who — said, “Let’s go to the stream.”

And just like that, we were off.

The walk was full of light-hearted teasing, deep conversations, and small silences that said more than words ever could. Joshua paused every so often to take photos — of leaves, of her sister and me walking hand-in-hand, of the sunlight breaking through the trees. She saw beauty where most would pass by.

When we reached the stream, the world slowed down. We sat by the water, dipped our feet in, and let nature hold the moment for us. Joshua laughed when her sister splashed her, then turned serious for a second and said, “Moments like this — this is what I live for.”

That day wasn’t just about spending time — it was about belonging.
Joshua as the storyteller.
My fiancée as my future.
And me — quietly thankful to be right there with them.

“The first day Joshua came over with her younger sister — the love of my life — we ended up at the stream.
No plans. No pressure. Just peace, family, and memories I’ll carry forever.
Like, comment, and share if you’ve ever had a day that felt like a forever chapter.” 💧✨

THROUGH THE LENS OF THE HEART

Emma was just nineteen when she first held a camera — a simple, secondhand gift from her mother. Life hadn’t been easy. Her father had left when she was little, and her small town often felt like a cage. But with her camera, Emma found a way to breathe, to see the beauty hidden in everyday struggles.

Every photo she took was a silent conversation — with her past, with her fears, with her dreams. She captured quiet moments: a mother’s tired smile after a long day, a child’s laughter amidst cracked sidewalks, the golden light through broken windows. Each frame carried pieces of her heart.

One cold evening, as Emma walked home, she noticed an old man sitting alone on a bench, staring at the fading sunset. Without hesitation, she lifted her camera and clicked. Later, when she showed him the photo, his eyes welled up with tears. “You see me,” he whispered.

That moment changed everything. Emma realized her camera wasn’t just a tool; it was a bridge — connecting souls, telling stories that words couldn’t reach.

She still faces doubts, and the world outside can be harsh, but Emma keeps pressing forward, knowing that sometimes, healing begins through the lens of the heart.
