This tree is old. So old that we can’t take it apart anymore. We take off the garland and ornaments and wrap it in a plastic sheet and put it away in one piece. The thing is, it’s a special tree. It was my 1st artificial tree. I bought it because I was living in a small house with a beautiful wood burning fireplace. It was going to be either a real tree or the fireplace. The living room wasn’t big enough for both. The little table under it was built by my dad who passed away 36 years ago. The red, green and white skirt was crocheted by my mom when I first left home 40 some years ago. She passed away 10 years ago. All of the ornaments are special. A lot are hand made, a lot were gifted, all of them are special. I used to tell my disabled son the story of each one while we decorated the tree and he would just roll his eyes and try to ignore me because I was interrupting his cartoon viewing🤭 But he loved it, we often caught him staring at it when he thought no one was looking. He passed away 8 years ago. My life is way different than it was when I first decorated this tree.
So often someone will post a picture of their tree and apologize for it because it may not be “as beautiful as most of the ones on this page”. This tree is old and has seen some stuff and I absolutely love it. I wouldn’t trade it for any other tree.
