Kano Government to Undertake Total Rehabilitation of KASCEPS
Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has said that his administration plans to undertake a comprehensive rehabilitation of the Kano State College of Education and Preliminary Studies (KASCEPS) to enhance its academic and infrastructural facilities and meet the evolving needs of students and the education sector.
The Governor made this known during an unscheduled visit to the institution today, accompanied by his Deputy, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, and other top government officials.
In a statement issued by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, in Kano on Thursday, it was stated that Governor Yusuf visited the college to conduct an on-the-spot assessment of its condition, with a view to taking the necessary rehabilitation measures to restore the dignity of the institution.
According to the Governor, the rehabilitation exercise will include a thorough renovation of classrooms, the auditorium, laboratories, and other critical facilities.
The plan may also involve expanding the college to include hostels for boarding students.
Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf charged students to pursue their studies with discipline, dedication, and enthusiasm, emphasizing the importance of academic excellence and the opportunities available through the state’s foreign and domestic scholarship schemes.
In a remark, the Deputy Governor and Commissioner for Higher Education, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, noted that the Kano State Executive Council recently approved N270 million for the completion and furnishing of the college’s e-library.
During the visit, Governor Yusuf and his entourage were conducted around key areas of the college by its Provost, Dr. Auwal Muhammad Faruk, to identify areas requiring immediate intervention.
