*Gov Sanwo-Olu Frees 55 Inmates*

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo- Olu, has approved the release of 55 inmates from various correctional facilities across the state following the recommendations of the Advisory Counci on the Prerogative of Mercy.

A statement by the State Attorney- General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro, said the order was for the immediate release of 40 inmates while others were to be released after serving additional terms of three to six months.

Pedro explained that the approval for the release of the inmates was an exercise of the governor's powers under Section 212 (1) and (2) of the 1999 Constitution as amended).

He added that the gesture was also in line with the commitment of the governor to decongest correctional facilities in Lagos as part of the justice sector reforms in the state.

According to him, the Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy in reaching its recommendations exercised due diligence in its deliberation of the applications brought before it in line with the applicable guidelines with information provided by the authority of the correctional facilities, the nature of offence the inmate was convicted for, period of incarceration, age, health condition and the behavioural conduct of the inmate.

"The order is to be complied with after completion of the release administrative process by the correctional facilities," the commissioner stated.

*3 Reasons Trump Triumphed*

After a legion of challenges, Donald Trump has just accomplished the most stunning political comeback in United States history.

The former president was reported to have achieved this victory for three main reasons: The first was that some 70% of Americans, according to exit polls, thought the US was on the wrong track and wanted change. Kamala Harris, the vice president and the candidate of the Democratic Party, promised none.

The second was that Trump reportedly broadened his appeal and outreach, eating into the so-called "Obama coalition" by winning sizable numbers of minorities and young people.

And the third was that Harris reportedly ran a 'lousy campaign.'

Numerous surveys showed voters, fed up with inflation, unchecked immigration and rising crime, wanted a change. However, Harris could not say how she would "turn the page".

When asked on "The View" what she would do differently than Joe Biden, she could not think of a "single thing." More than any other utterance on the campaign trail, that unprepared and unimaginative response became her albatross.

*RCCG Pastor Honoured For Returning 430 Dirhams Overpaid To Him In Morocco*

A Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) pastor, Olusegun Oluleye, has been honoured in Morocco for returning 430 dirhams (N192,000), which was overpaid to him by a money changer.

Oluleye, who works with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), was recognised for his honesty at a workshop organised by North East Consultancy Limited.

Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, Oluleye said the incident occurred at a bureau de change in Morocco.

He narrated that he promptly notified the chief executive officer of North-East Consultancy Limited, Ahmed Gombe, after he discovered the error, adding that Gombe verified the overpayment and arranged for the money to be returned to the shop owner.

"I am always content with what I have and believe in returning what doesn't belong to me," he said.

"I encourage Nigerians to uphold honesty and act as ambassadors for their country wherever they go.

*UNICEF To Vaccinate 6.8m Northern Children Against Polio, Measles*

United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) is embarking on integrated measles and oral polio vaccination campaigns in Plateau, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa and Taraba states, targeting 6,815,000 children.

The health officer of the UN agency, Mr. Patrick Akor, told newsmen in Bauchi yesterday that the exercise, which was targeting 95 percent coverage, had 7, 473, 450 doses of measles and polio vaccines already supplied to the target states.

Akor said for the measles vaccination, the exercise was targeting 3, 837, 888 children aged between 9 and 15 years and for oral polio, the target was slightly over four million for children o to 59 months. The agency's social behaviour change specialist, UNICEF Bauchi Field Office, Mr. George Eki, noted with concern that measles remained the biggest threat to children.

According to him, measles is responsible for mortality and blindness in children, as well as other life-threatening conditions.

Eki said it had become imperative that the government, with support from UNICEF and other UN agencies, ensure that children, wherever they are in the country, are protected from measles and other vaccine-preventable diseases.

*Abuja AfroJazz Festival: A Delightful Mix of Jazz, Alternative & Electro Music*

The Abuja AfroJazz Festival is not strictly a full-on Jazzy affair, rather a delightful mix of AfroJazz, alternative and electro music.

The evening started on an energetic note with A'sian's performance; a high- spirited set was made more interactive by her bilingual songs rendered in her local Akwa-Ibom dialect interspersed with English language, and enhanced by her perfectly timed traditional Akwa-Ibom dance movements that had the audience slow-twisting in tune to the rhythmic beat. This was AfroJazz with a traditional twist.

Sustaining the tempo set by A'sian, is the first act of Tosin Salako's three-song set, 'Kosi Miyo Damile' (Simioko) a typical AfroJazz that got the audience all pumped up. It also saw Abuja's Mike Wonder display an impressive guitar riff-off mid the performance, much to the audience's delight. This wasn't a Jimi Hendrix standard aggressive riff-off, rather a softly- tempered riff that played off Wonder's strength.

Salako took the improvisation a notch higher with the next act, a s**t singing - where he strings lyrics of nonsensical 'catty' sounds – to which the audience responded "Owe wayeeo wayeeo wawoo" in chorus.

*Burna Boy was rejected in America!*

When Burna was ready to start his U.S. tour, he was turned down because there was no evidence or track record, even though he was already a huge star in Africa, selling out stadiums.

Mama Burna: 🗣️ ‘We had to start from scratch, performing in small rooms, taking $12 showers at truck stops because we refused event centers without proof of ticket sales. They said we couldn’t do it. I asked why, and they said, “The only artist who tried didn’t even get halfway.” I replied, “Watch me,” and we did it on our own.

No one opens the door for you without their own agenda. Coming from Africa, you have to work twice as hard to conquer the world.’

– Burna Boy’s mom and manager, Bose Ogulu, at the BOF Awards.

*I am getting a 7th wife, I'm tired of Regina Daniels. My new wife is 20 years old and is still a virgin.* __ Ned Nwoko

"I am not the first man to get married to celebrity. I know celebrity marriages that you'll never see trending on social media. But my own marriage is everywhere. My wife can't even shut her mouth, always saying things to bring attention to our marriage. I don't understand why she always brags of getting married as a vîrgin because all my 5 wives before her were virgins too. She's already making it look as if I have no choice. I have found a young beautiful 20 year old virgin who loves me so much so I'm gonna make her my 7th wife so Nigerians can stop counselling my marriage on social media. Afterall, I'm a polygamist and I'll keep marrying more wives till the day I die." ~ Ned Nwoko
