MLA Devsar Inaugurates Mega Oil Seed Distribution Drive Under NMEO-OS

Devsar, Kulgam Nov 10: MLA Devsar, Feroz Ahmad Shah, on Monday inaugurated a mega oil seed distribution programme under NMEO-OS for farmers affected during recent floods and adverse weather conditions.
Speaking at the event, the MLA said that agriculture is the backbone of the economy and such initiatives play a vital role in educating farmers about various government schemes. He urged the Department of Agriculture to conduct awareness programmes at halqa levels so that every farmer becomes familiar with the benefits of agricultural schemes.
He noted that farmers in the region suffered massive losses due to inclement weather and NH-44 closure, and distribution of oil seeds is intended to compensate those affected.
Remarks on Budgam By-polls

He asserted that NC is the only political party opposing BJP, adding that PDP is aligned with the BJP, questioning why PDP fielded a candidate against NC in Budgam but not against BJP in Nagrota, Jammu.
District Agriculture Officer Kulgam, Mohammad Amin, said that the initiative aims to cover 3 lakh hectares, ensuring no patch of land remains uncultivated.
He emphasized that the government’s mission is to bring a “yellow revolution” to J&K by expanding oil seed cultivation.
Amin said that nearly 76% of edible oil is imported, and such initiatives aim to reduce dependency while boosting farmers’ income.“We also intend to generate revenue for the farmer,” he added.
The programme was also attended by Agriculture Circle Officer Devsar, Firdoos Ahmad, along with other officials and a large gathering of farmers.
