So last week i taught you what acha ( fonio) is and how good it is for weight loss and the benefits of eating it. In this post, i am going to show you how to prepare it in 3 different ways.

It can also be used for swallow and enjoyed with light soup.

_*1. Acha Porridge (Breakfast Style)*_

Ingredients:

✅1 cup acha

✅2 cups water or milk (depending on how creamy you want it)

✅Pinch of salt

✅Honey or dates (optional for sweetness)

Method:

1. Rinse the acha thoroughly to remove sand.

2. Pour water or milk into a pot and bring to a boil.

3. Add the washed acha and stir.

4. Cook on low heat for 10–15 minutes while stirring occasionally.

5. Add sweetener if desired and serve warm.

✅ Perfect healthy breakfast — light and filling!

_*2. Acha Jollof (Main Meal)*_

Ingredients:

✅1 cup acha

✅1 cup blended pepper mix (tomato, pepper, onion)

✅ Minimal Vegetable oil

✅Seasoning cubes and salt

✅Onions, vegetables, or protein of choice

Method:

1. Rinse acha and set aside.

2. Heat oil, add onions and pepper mix, and fry for 5–10 minutes.

3. Add seasoning and little water or stock.

4. Pour in the washed acha and stir.

5. Cook on low heat for 10–15 minutes till soft and fluffy.

✅ Looks and tastes like jollof rice but lighter and healthier!

_*3. Acha with Vegetables (Healthy Meal)*_

Ingredients:

✅1 cup acha

✅Water or stock

✅Spinach or ugu (fluted pumpkin)

✅Onions, crayfish, pepper, and seasoning

Method:

1. Cook acha in little water or stock until soft.

2. In another pot, fry onions, pepper, and crayfish.

3. Add cooked acha, stir well, and mix in your vegetables.

4. Cook for 3–5 minutes and serve.
