Grilled Beef Shawarma Wrap Recipe 🥙🔥
Ingredients:
For the Beef Marinade:
1 lb thinly sliced beef (sirloin or flank steak) 🥩
3 tbsp olive oil 🫒
3 tbsp yogurt (plain) 🥛
2 cloves garlic, minced 🧄
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp ground coriander
1/2 tsp smoked paprika 🌶️
1/2 tsp ground turmeric
Juice of 1 lemon 🍋
Salt and pepper to taste 🧂
For the Shawarma Sauce:
1/2 cup tahini or plain yogurt 🥛
2 tbsp lemon juice 🍋
1 tbsp olive oil 🫒
1 clove garlic, minced 🧄
1 tsp chili powder (optional for spice) 🌶️
Salt to taste 🧂
For Assembly:
4 large pita or flatbreads 🌮
1 cup shredded lettuce 🥬
1 cup sliced tomatoes 🍅
1/2 cup sliced onions 🧅
Chopped fresh parsley 🌿
Instructions:
Marinate the Beef:
In a bowl, combine olive oil, yogurt, garlic, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
Add the sliced beef to the marinade, ensuring all pieces are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for deeper flavor.
Prepare the Shawarma Sauce:
In a small bowl, mix tahini (or yogurt), lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, chili powder, and salt. Whisk until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning to taste. Set aside.
Cook the Beef:
Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until nicely charred and cooked through. Remove from heat.
Assemble the Wraps:
Warm the pita or flatbreads. Spread a generous layer of the shawarma sauce on the bread.
Layer with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and the grilled beef slices.
Drizzle extra shawarma sauce on top and sprinkle with fresh parsley.
Serve:
Roll the pita into a wrap or serve it open-faced. Enjoy with fries or a side salad for a complete meal! 🍟🥗
