Help! Having major dress regret
First time ever posting so my apologies if I didn’t do this right. I bought the 1st dress last Thursday and started having regrets the next day lol. I had been to other dress appointments but still felt like something was missing but there were still dresses I was very interested in, just had minor reservations about them. When I went bought the my dress last Thursday I bought it at the appointment and didn’t really spend any time comparing it to other dresses I had tried on.
For context, my mother and I have a close relationship and she is very ill. We live a few states away and it is difficult for her to travel/visit. I had been to a few dress appointments before, but it was important to me that I get to go dress shopping with her as her health has been declining rapidly. She was able to come visit and go dress shopping with me and I ended up buying the 1st dress right then. It was a very emotional time for us and my mom likes that dress a lot, and I’m worried I bought that dress due to the high emotions in the moment.
I like the dress, but I feel it’s a little boring and I don’t feel like it was “fun”. I had two different visions for a dress, 1. modern but classic or 2. something with a vintage feel to it (ideally Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face). I also wanted a dress that I know I can have fun in and that makes me feel giddy, but also is unique. And it may be confirmation bias, but I feel like dress 1 isn’t that unique. Hence dresses 2 and 3. I feel like they give very different vibes but I had so much fun trying both dresses and didn’t want to take them off, and also liked that they stood out a little more (1 has these teardrop pearls and 2 the lace was different from what I had previously seen). One more thing to add is the dress I bought is very much my style and “me” (everyone I’ve shown the dress to expected me to go with that style). Yet while I wanted a dress that matches my style, I also wanted to step out of my comfort zone a little bit while still staying authentic to me, which is what dresses 2 and 3 do.
I’m really torn on keeping the dress I bought and that gave me that moment with my mother, or picking one of the other two dresses that was more aligned to what I had wanted.
Anyway, sorry for the novel and any help would be greatly appreciated! I’ve been very stressed over this and it’s been a lot when I would like to make a decision and put it aside so I can focus on my mom and other wedding planning.
