NCRPO Pledges Support for LGU Programs Advancing Public Welfare
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) reaffirmed its commitment to support local government units (LGUs) across Metro Manila in implementing programs and projects that promote public welfare, community development, and a safer environment for all residents.
NCRPO Officer-in-Charge Police Brigadier General Christopher N. Abrahano emphasized that the police have an important role in ensuring that initiatives intended to improve people’s lives are carried out in an orderly, secure, and accessible environment.
“Ang tungkulin ng pulisya ay hindi lamang panatilihin ang kapayapaan at kaayusan, kundi suportahan din ang mga programang direktang nakikinabang ang ating mga kababayan. We will work closely with our local government partners to help ensure that these initiatives reach the people they are intended to serve,” PBGen. Abrahano said.
He said the NCRPO’s efforts are aligned with the DILG’s Safer Metro Manila Plan, which emphasizes visible police presence in high-density and high-risk areas, stronger police-barangay coordination, and greater public confidence in community safety.
PBGen. Abrahano said the NCRPO, through its five police districts and operating units, will strengthen coordination with LGUs in maintaining peace and order, managing crowds and traffic during public activities, securing project sites and distribution venues when necessary, and responding promptly to safety concerns that may arise during the implementation of government programs.
The NCRPO will also support community engagement and public information efforts to help residents understand relevant programs, report security concerns, and access appropriate assistance.
PBGen. Abrahano directed police station commanders across Metro Manila to sustain open communication with local chief executives, barangay officials, and concerned agencies to ensure that public safety considerations are integrated into community programs and development activities and to work hand-in-hand with them in identifying potential risks, address public safety issues, and prevent criminal activities that could disrupt the delivery of services.
He said these efforts are consistent with Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr.'s “Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman” agenda, which calls for responsive police service and stronger partnerships with communities and local authorities.
PBGen. Abrahano stressed that security measures must remain professional, responsive, and respectful of the public, particularly in initiatives involving vulnerable communities, beneficiaries of government assistance, and residents affected by urban redevelopment.
“Development must be felt by the people, especially those in communities that need greater access to basic services and opportunities. As the police, we will do our part by helping maintain a peaceful environment where local governments can deliver services, implement projects, and serve their constituents effectively,” he added.
The NCRPO underscored that effective governance requires strong partnerships among law enforcement, local governments, and communities. By working together, these institutions can help ensure that public initiatives proceed safely, efficiently, and with the welfare of Metro Manila residents as their foremost consideration. # # #
