"SO, this guy comes into Goodwill today, he's a big dude. He has tattoos on his neck and arm and even a skull tattoo the size of my entire hand on the back of his head. His name tag says "Punisher" everything about him screams burliness and manliness yet, here he is, at Goodwill with a baby doll strapped safely in the cart as he shops for clothing. When I asked him about it he told me it was his daughter's baby doll named Davey and that she wanted him to have Clothes and socks so he got in his car, and drove here and bought Davey two onesies and then went to Walmart and bought him some socks as well. I couldn't believe how well he treated his daughter's baby doll. It was incredible. I can only imagine how well his daughter is cared for if he's willing to care for her toys this well. I just think amazing parenting like this deserves recognition. This man sucked up all of his pride and went out of his way to clothing shop for a baby doll just to make his little girl happy and if that's not love I don't know what is."

So I’m at the dollar store to get some cheap Ramen and this little s**t of a kid decided to throw a fit over these “larger” candy bars and called his mother and I quote a “bitch.” because she wouldn’t get him this particular bar... I was waiting for her to slap the living s**t out of him and instead she literally gave in and said “I’ll get you the bigger one when we get to the register.” Well.... I’ll tell you now I had no intentions of spending $24.00 bucks on candy bars, but the look on that little s**ts face as I walked out the door with all they had left was priceless.
Best $24.00 I ever spent.

I quickly snapped a photo of my kitchen sink yesterday as I was heading out to meet my niece. It reminded me of a piece of wisdom from about 40 years ago, when I was preparing for marriage. My grandma, who spent the last 30 years of her life in a wheelchair, gave me a memorable piece of advice. She showed me a t-towel and covered her dirty dishes with it. She said, “Never turn down an opportunity to go out with Dennis or a friend just because you have housework to do. Just cover your dishes with this towel. They’ll be there when you get back.”

I took her advice to heart. Yesterday was no exception—I covered my dishes and went out to enjoy time with my niece. Over the years, I’ve often closed the door on a messy room or left chores for later. Life is too short to be bogged down by less important tasks. Sometimes, the chores can wait! 💚

This house was my grandmother’s when I was a child. It was my refuge—a 600-square-foot space where there were no arguments, no violence, no substances. It was just my grandma and grandpa, deeply in love. Each day, she would wake up early and cook breakfast for him. Seeing their mutual love and care was vital, especially coming from a broken home marred by the very issues this house was free from.

We spent hours together watching "The Price Is Right" and going through her photo albums, admiring black-and-white pictures of her Texas family. I even managed to get into trouble at school just to spend more time at her house, as she was the only one who could care for me while my dad was away.

Now, as I look for a new home, I found one just a mile from where I grew up. It’s an older house with a raised foundation, close to my old school. There’s a deep sense of comfort and familiarity in it, mirroring the warmth of my childhood. I hadn’t realized it until now, but it’s clear that the neighborhood and the memories of my grandma have guided my choice.

Our grandparents and elders play a crucial role in shaping who we are. It’s important to honor and appreciate them for the lasting impact they have on our lives and communities.

"A traveler from Texas was stopping to get gas and witnessed a CCSO deputy consoling a young man. The traveler was touched by the act and called our dispatch center and spoke to a supervisor, sharing the picture with him. Picture speaks for itself!”

"I have a husband who helps, but that doesn't mean I was 'so lucky to find a man like that.'

Yes, I'm lucky to have him. But him being what a father and husband should be is not the main reason. ⁣⁣

When I say I'm going away for a weekend to meet up with friends, or he's cooking dinner tonight, or he took them grocery shopping without me, or he cleaned up and did the laundry, their faces look like I've told them a ghost story. Then comes the, 'Oh my god, you're so lucky! I need to borrow him. I need a man like that.'

We're a team. I pick up after him, he picks up after me, and we take turns looking after the kids so we both get a break. ⁣⁣

⁣⁣Being in a relationship, especially with kids, takes a ton of work, from both sides.⁣⁣

⁣⁣When he comes home from work, he plays with the kids so I can make dinner. Then I'll play with the kids while he cleans up the kitchen. I make dinners on the weeknights, and he makes breakfast every weekend morning. ⁣⁣

⁣⁣We both have each other's backs. We both do our share of 'work' at home and with the kids. That's the way it should be. ⁣⁣

⁣⁣I'm not lucky to have him because he does what a father should be doing. I'm lucky to have him because of the person he is. And who I am when I'm with him."

Freddie Mercury was so ill when the band recorded the song 'The Show Must Go On' in 1990 that Brian May had concerns as to whether he was physically capable of singing it.

Recalling Freddie''s performance, Brian
says; "The melody called for some very demanding top notes, and I'd only been able to 'demo' them in falsetto, I said to Freddie:

'I don't want you strain yourself - this stuff isn't going to be easy in full voice, even for you!'

Freddie told me : 'Don't worry - I'll fu***ng nail it, darling!'

I said: 'Fred, I don't know if this is going to be possible to sing.' And he went: 'I'll fu***ng do it, darling', vodka down, and went in and killed it, completely lacerated that vocal.

Freddie propped himself up against the mixing desk and... delivered one of the most extraordinary performances of his life.

In the final mix of 'The Show Must Go On' , when you get to 'On with the show', you are listening to a man who conquered everything to deliver his finest work."

GREAT SEA STORY (Trivia)
The passenger steamer SS Warrimoo was quietly knifing its way through the waters of the mid-Pacific on its way from Vancouver to Australia. The navigator had just finished working out a star fix and brought Captain John DS. Phillips, the result. The Warrimoo's position was LAT 0Âș 31' N and LONG 179 30' W. The date was 31 December 1899. "Know what this means?" First Mate Payton broke in, "We're only a few miles from the intersection of the Equator and the International Date Line". Captain Phillips was prankish enough to take full advantage of the opportunity to achieve the navigational freak of a lifetime.
He called his navigators to the bridge to check & double check the ship's position. He changed course slightly so as to bear directly on his mark. Then he adjusted the engine speed.
The calm weather & clear night worked in his favor. At midnight the SS Warrimoo lay on the Equator at exactly the point where it crossed the International Date Line! The consequences of this bizarre position were many:
The forward part (bow) of the ship was in the Southern Hemisphere & in the middle of summer.
The rear (stern) was in the Northern Hemisphere & in the middle of winter.
The date in the aft part of the ship was 31 December 1899.
In the bow (forward) part it was 1 January 1900.
This ship was therefore not only in:
Two different days,
Two different months,
Two different years,
Two different seasons
But in two different centuries - all at the same time!

Just left an unhappy marriage and had to move into a very small apartment because of finances. After the first three days I’m feeling apprehensive as I don’t really like it as much as I would have liked. It’s kind of shabby but I have worked super hard to make it better. Will I grow to like it? Make me feel better

I had this mysterious plant growing in my yard and i decided to let it grow to see what it was
And here is the mysterious plant in all its glory!!!
Ribwort Plantain
Tis a "w**d" . Anyone walking by would say it needs to be cut down because it's a w**d
Did you know that the leaves of this plant help stop itching from mosquito bites and bee stings and other minor scratches?
All I have to do is take the leaves, cut them, and rub it on my bites and boom no more itching?
And yet they say we should cut down this NATURAL HEALER and buy cream from CVS instead.
I have so much of this plant growing!!! I'm gonna figure out how to make salves with it and give them to everyone I know. Educate them on how things growing in your own yard can heal you... for free.
Stop cutting down what you don't understand. Take the time to be patient and actually learn. You might find that you have something pretty special.

A few months ago, my husband and I were having a conversation about our finances. Due to some very difficult circumstances, we've always struggled to make ends meet....but this was a particularly difficult time for us. We didn't know it at the time, but our 4.5 year old son was taking note of this conversation in another room.

About a week later, we were running a very long day of errands as a family. I was tired and made a comment to my husband about how I could use a coffee. He reminded me that coffee just isn't in our budget, we can't put any money on our Starbucks card, and the conversation ended there. It was then that my son asked me for my Starbucks card (something that very rarely has a balance, but is kept safely in my wallet around my birthday and the holidays when I can reload it with gift cards). He likes playing with old gift cards and reward cards, so I passed it back to him.

About a minute later, this exchange happened...

'Here, mommy.'

'What is it, honey?'

'This is for you. I put dollars on your coffee card for you.'

I turn around. He hands me my Starbucks card, neatly wrapped inside a $5 bill he must have had in his wallet. He, being the literal child that he is, put $5 ON my card for me to buy a coffee.

Take a moment to appreciate how beautifully your children's minds work. When my husband told me we 'can't put money on the card', my son took that quite literally.... so he did it for me. I will never in my life drink a better cup of coffee than I did that afternoon.

Then, more importantly, take another moment to realize that teaching kindness to children is such a worthwhile feat. This is the same little boy who has told me in the past he wants to give 'all of his dollars to the man that lives on the sidewalk', and that he wants to make a lot of money when he grows up 'so he can give his dollars to other kids that don't have mommies or daddies.'

When you think they aren't listening, they are. When you think you've said it 1,000 times but it hasn't sunk in.... it has.

Teach your kids kindness and they will pour it into the world. They, and all of the lives your children will change, deserve it."

In 2017 a husband-and-wife trucking couple were at a truck stop in Laredo, Texas, when they came across a cat begging truckers for food. He was too scared to let anyone near him, but the husband offered him a piece of chicken and was able to grab him before he could run off. They fed him and, realising they couldn’t leave him there, took him on board, not sure what to do with him as they’d never owned a cat before. They wanted to do their best to help him gain weight, and then to find him a new home – but in the process fell in love with him! Grayson, as he was named, has been trucking for some seven years now, and has been to every state in the US except Alaska and Hawaii. The wife said, ‘He’s my world, and I’m so glad we were able to help him; he’s been at my side along the road and on all our journeys together.’

If you see me in your garden, please give me food (raw, unsalted meat or ground meat; I also like cat food but not fish) and water. Do not give me milk as it causes stomach problems and I could die from dehydration. I am naive, and if I see milk, I will drink it.
Do not give me milk!
Do not use insecticides or traps. I am harmless and beneficial for your garden because I feed on insects that attack vegetables.
My species is endangered, please help me stay alive.
Thank you! đŸŠ”â€ïž

Powerful.. Joshua Dyer (aged 14) was tasked at school to write a poem for Remembrance Day. An hour later (without any help) he produced this..
ONE THOUSAND MEN ARE WALKING
One thousand men are walking
Walking side by side
Singing songs from home
The spirit as their guide
They walk toward the light milord,
they walk towards the sun
they smoke and laugh and smile together
no foes to outrun.
These men live on forever
in the hearts of those they saved
a nation truly grateful
for the path of peace they paved.
They march as friends and comrades
but they do not march for war
step closer to salvation
a tranquil steady corps
the meadows lit with golden beams
a beacon for the brave
the emerald grass untrampled
a reward for what they gave.
They dream of those they left behind
and know they dream of them
forever in those poppy fields
there walks one thousand men
Joshua Dyer 2019 (aged 14)
Lest we forget
This has to be shared. An incredible poem from 14 year old Joshua Dyer.

Who remembers this guy on television from 1947 through 1960? This television show was the first to pair a real person with puppets and related characters such as Sherry Lewis and Lamb Chops.
Howdy Doody's name came from a down home greeting used in the past, "Howdy do". The original Howdy Doody had 48 freckles representing the 48 states during the time the show was on television. His companion on the show was Bob Smith who gained the nickname Buffalo Bob Smith from his home town of Buffalo, New York and his admiration of Buffalo Bill Cody.
And did you know that William Cody, later known as Buffalo Bill, lived in Kansas? In 1853 Isaac Cody, Bill's father, sold his land in Iowa and he and his family left for Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Life in Kansas proved to be a turning point in William Cody's life. When he was just ten years old his father was killed during a riot fighting for Kansas to be a free state, leaving young William the man of the house. As a young man, Cody served with the 7th Kansas Cavalry, Company H in the Union Army during the Civil War.
Come see Howdy Doody at the Territorial Capital Museum in Lecompton!

I have never ever in my life had a spiritual experience like a sign of some sort. we had to put my Neddy down last Friday and I have been a complete mess. I have been feeling so guilty and wondering if I made the wrong decision or made it too early. Last night I prayed to God for Ned to give me a sign that he was okay because I was so upset and worried that he was mad at me or thought I was punishing him.
Back story:
When I had Ned I would always take him to the Hunnington bank by my house and go through the drive thru and they would always send him milk bones. He would always sit in my lap because he knew the milk bones were coming and couldn’t wait.
Today’s story:
I went to a DIFFERENT Hunnington bank that was by my work. I have never brought Ned to this bank and none of the people there know about Ned. When I went through a lady who I had never met before was taking care of me. When she sent out my deposit she sent out a milk bone too. I was really confused and thought it was so weird she just sent me one out. I met my mom for coffee and told her and we talked a little about. I went back to work and about 15-20 minutes later my mom showed up. She told me she couldn’t let it go and went to the bank and she told the lady that I had just come thru and described what I looked like and what my car looked like. She told the lady “you gave my daughter a milk bone. Why did you do that?” She was confused and told her “I’m sorry
I just saw she had a dog in the car and sent one out for him. I normally don’t ask and just send them out I’m sorry.”
My mom asked again “you saw a dog in her car?” And she told her “yes she had a dog with her”
My mom asked her what the dog looked like and she described Ned exactly. She told her he was sitting right next to me. She was very confused as to why my mom was asking all of these questions. My mom told her about Neddy passing away. The lady felt horrible thinking she upset me and my mom told her “no don’t be sorry!” and then asked her if he looked happy and she said yes, he looked very happy and she even waved at him because she thought he was so cute. she was shocked when my mom told her about Ned passing. When my mom told me I burst into tears. This woman who I had never met and knew nothing about me saw Ned in my car with me. Neddy was with me and he was letting me know he was okayđŸ˜â€ïžâ€ïž
I know some of you might think I’m crazy or making this up but it is 100% true. Our babies give us signs to let them know they are okay. They want us to take comfort in the fact that they are at peace.
