MT7 arrested amid child custody battle with baby mama and fellow artist Juna de Star

Popular South Sudanese singer MT7 was taken into custody this evening in Juba following a heated child custody dispute with his baby mama, fellow musician Juna de Star.

According to media report, MT7 confirmed the arrest, revealing that it was triggered by his decision to take their daughter to Yirol without informing or obtaining consent from the mother.

“I am currently in custody because I took my daughter to Yirol from her mother in Juba,” MT7 shared, as reported by Lake State media.

South Sudan updates work permit fees for 2024/2025

The Ministry of Labour has announced revised work permit fees for the 2024/2025 financial year, which will take effect on January 6, 2025. The update, outlined in a notice signed by the Undersecretary of Labour, Mary Hillary Wani Pitia, includes a detailed fee structure for various categories of workers and penalties for non-compliance.

According to the new directive:
• Consultants and Managers will pay $5,000.
• Professionals will pay $3,500.
• Technicians, skilled, and unskilled workers will each pay $1,500.
• Religious, missionary workers, and volunteers will pay $500.
• A work permit digital system fee of $200 will also apply.

Employers who fail to process work permits for their employees will face a penalty of $15,000 per individual, while self-employed individuals without valid permits will be fined $1,000.

The notice references the Financial Act 2024/2025 and emphasizes compliance with the new fee structure to avoid legal repercussions. The Ministry aims to enhance regulatory measures and streamline the work permit process.

Yesterday, our mighty team of Awan Muorkuau who gave us joy of Trophies during the GCPT 2024/25 few days ago left their way home for Celebrations.

The population turned out right from Akon bridge (khubur Akhon) till Akon Market (sukh Akhon) in reception with full RESPECT and SALUTATION for having ended the year with unending and irreplaceable victory in HISTORY.

Awan Muorkuau FC lifted the GCPT 2024 trophy 🏆 tightly in the hands of Aguok Kuei FC with glass-clean points few days ago at Kuajok Freedom Square. The GCPT Women Volleyball trophy topped up was also in the Awan Muorkuau trolley🛒.

Gogrial man kills brother over goat sold for Christmas clothes

A 24-year-old man, Akeen Akeen Akok, is accused of killing his elder brother in Gogrial town, Warrap State, on Tuesday after a fight over a he-goat sold to buy Christmas clothes.

According to Gogrial West County Police Inspector Col. Joseph Mathony Nhial, the deceased, 27-year-old Akok Akeen Akok, recognized his he-goat in the market, which had been sold by his younger brother without his consent.

He then searched for his brother to confront him, and during the fight, he was ultimately killed by the younger brother.

“A younger brother took his elder brother's he-goat and sold it at the auction. The elder brother came to the auction and recognized his he-goat. When he asked, he was told that someone named Akee Akeen sold it to them,” said Col. Mathony.

“He went to the market to search for his younger brother, and they started fighting. The elder brother was punched in the chest, causing him to lose consciousness, and he later died in the hospital."
Col. Mathony said the accused, Akeen Akeen Akok, is now in police custody for legal procedures and urged residents to resolve family disputes peacefully and avoid violence.

Konyo-Konyo market fire aftermath: One person dead as traders count losses worth millions

Traders at Konyo-Konyo Market are counting losses worth millions after a devastating fire destroyed half of the market.

According to the South Sudan Civil Defense Service, one person tragically lost his life in the fire. The blaze reportedly began at 10 a.m., but firefighters only received the call at 12:30 p.m. and arrived at the scene around 1 p.m.

Authorities explained that they were unable to access the fire to extinguish it due to the market’s layout. The makeshift shops and lack of vehicle access within the market made it impossible for firefighting equipment to reach the affected areas.
