NAF CHIEF DECLARES ZERO TOLERANCE FOR INSECURITY, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO DEFENDING NIGERIA AT SECOND QUARTER ROUTE MARCH IN ABUJA

By Ruth Dabo~

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has restated the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) unshakable commitment to defending Nigeria’s airspace and protecting the lives and property of all citizens.

Speaking during the Second Quarter Route March held today, June 4, 2025, in Abuja, the CAS addressed officers, airmen, and airwomen with a clear message of assurance and resolve.

“We will continue to defend every inch of our nation's airspace and stand firm in joint operations to protect lives and property across the country. Your protection is not just an obligation — it is our highest priority.”

In a powerful statement issued through the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Ehimen Ejodame, the Air Chief sent a warning to terrorists, insurgents, and criminal elements threatening the peace of the nation:

“To the enemies of our nation, know this — there will be no hiding place for those who threaten Nigeria’s peace and stability. We are coming for you. We will find you and take you out.”

Air Marshal Abubakar also took a moment to appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support to the Armed Forces, particularly in the areas of personnel welfare and enhanced operational capabilities.

“On behalf of all officers, airmen and airwomen, I reaffirm our loyalty to the President and Commander-in-Chief. His commitment has strengthened our resolve to serve with pride and purpose.”

As part of new policy measures to improve military readiness, the CAS emphasized that physical fitness is now a non-negotiable requirement in the NAF.

He announced that:

All Performance Evaluation Reports must be accompanied by a Physical Fitness Test certificate.

No personnel will be considered for promotion without meeting medical and physical fitness standards.

Modern sports facilities will be constructed across several NAF bases.

Over 22 units will be equipped with state-of-the-art gym equipment in the coming weeks.

He likened the route march to the larger mission of the NAF, symbolizing the journey toward lasting peace and national security.

“The path to victory is never easy — it’s filled with trials and challenges. But those who endure with discipline and resilience will arrive at our destination. We are not just marching on roads, we are marching toward purpose, honour, and victory.”

The quarterly route march, conducted simultaneously across all NAF units nationwide, is designed to boost endurance, promote unity, and maintain the physical and mental conditioning needed for effective operations. It also serves as a show of force and readiness, reinforcing the NAF’s role as a critical guardian of Nigeria’s sovereignty.

This right here is what I’ve always talked about tribal segregation and sentiments.
It’s funny how some people still hold on to stereotypes, believing one tribe is better than another.

Let me be real with you: being a good person is a personal choice, not a tribal trait.

I’ve received more kindness and favor from Igbos than from any other tribe including my own.
Yes, others may have different experiences, but here’s the truth:
A good person can come from ANY tribe.

Let’s stop the tribal stereotyping. We’re better than this.

NAF COMMISSIONS NEW PROJECTS IN KATSINA, BUILDS WITH HEART AND PURPOSE

In a strategic move to enhance the welfare of its personnel and strengthen ties with host communities, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commissioned four major projects at the 213 Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Katsina State.

The newly inaugurated facilities include two modern accommodation blocks for officers and airmen, addressing a long-standing challenge of inadequate housing for years, personnel serving under Operation FASAN YANMA were forced to lodge in scattered hotels due to the absence of on-base shelter. The new housing units now offer a secure, comfortable, and dignified living environment.

In another landmark addition, the Base also unveiled its first dedicated Christian worship centre, providing a serene space for faith, reflection, and spiritual nourishment. The centre underscores NAF’s commitment to religious inclusivity and the well-being of all its personnel.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, emphasized the importance of investing in the lives of service members. “This is how we build a highly motivated force by putting people first,” he said. “By renewing infrastructure and restoring dignity.”

He expressed appreciation to the Federal Government, the National Assembly, and particularly President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose Renewed Hope agenda is manifesting in tangible projects like these across military formations nationwide.

“These buildings represent more than just structures, they embody the spirit of a service that cares deeply for its own,” Air Marshal Abubakar added.

The Nigerian Air Force reiterated its gratitude to the people of Katsina for their continued support and reaffirmed its commitment to serving and protecting all Nigerians with dedication.

DEFENCE HEADQUARTERS HOSTS PSYCHOLOGICAL OPERATIONS WORKSHOP TO STRENGTHEN NATIONAL SECURITY STRATEGY

Abuja, Nigeria – May 14, 2025

The Defence Headquarters has convened a high-level Psychological Operations Workshop in Abuja, aimed at enhancing the Armed Forces’ capacity to counter emerging security threats through non-kinetic strategies.

Declaring the event open, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, emphasized the importance of psychological operations in today’s hybrid warfare environment. He noted that modern conflicts demand a balance of kinetic and non-kinetic approaches, highlighting psychological operations as crucial to shaping perceptions, countering insurgent propaganda, and gaining public trust.

“This workshop comes at a time when the country is battling complex and asymmetric threats. Psychological motivation enhances operational effectiveness and reinforces national security,” General Musa stated.

Themed “Defence Headquarters Influence Operations: Optimizing Psychological Operations for Efficiency within a Joint Environment,” the event brought together senior military officers, media professionals, psychologists, and strategic communication experts to discuss innovative approaches to influence operations.

The Director-General of Radio Nigeria, Dr. Mohammed Bulama, who was the Special guest of honor, applauded the military’s proactive non-kinetic efforts and stressed the role of media and civil society in counter-radicalization and strategic communication.

Delivering the keynote address, retired Major General Letam Wiwa called for institutionalizing psychological operations at the highest command levels. He emphasized that modern warfare is increasingly fought in the cognitive domain, where controlling narratives and public perception is as vital as battlefield victories.

> “Victory today is measured not only by territories gained but by hearts won and narratives controlled,” Wiwa asserted. He also urged better coordination, morale-boosting efforts, and the protection of psychological operations officers’ mental well-being.

Commander of the Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare Command, Major General Adeleke Ayannuga, also highlighted the rising importance of digital influence in modern warfare. He underscored the synergy between psychological operations, information warfare, and artificial intelligence in shaping public sentiment and operational success.

The workshop marks a significant step in integrating psychological operations into Nigeria’s joint military strategy, with participants expected to develop actionable frameworks to support national defense and internal security efforts.
