TROOPS RAID KIDNAPPERS’ DEN IN KWARA, RESCUE TWO VICTIMS, ARREST EIGHT SUSPECTS
In a continued effort to rid Kwara State of criminal elements and reinforce public safety, troops of the 22 Armoured Brigade, operating under Forward Operating Base (FOB) Patigi, have carried out a successful raid on a suspected kidnappers’ hideout, rescuing two victims and apprehending eight suspects.
According to a statement by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 22 Brigade Ilorin, Lieutenant Stephen Nwankwo, the operation took place in the early hours of Saturday, 21 June 2025, following credible intelligence on the location of the criminal hideout situated on the outskirts of Latandaji Village, Patigi Local Government Area.
The troops, executing a swift and tactical assault, encountered mild resistance but swiftly subdued the kidnappers with superior firepower. During the operation, two victims Mr. Amos Moses and Mr. Philip Michael were rescued unharmed.
One suspect, identified as Mr. Mohammed Mohammed, sustained gunshot wounds during the exchange and was promptly evacuated to Bachita Teaching Hospital for medical treatment. Eight other suspects were arrested and are currently in military custody undergoing preliminary investigation.
A thorough search of the scene led to the recovery of two motorcycles and two expended cartridge shells believed to have been used by the syndicate.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its dedication to protecting citizens and dismantling criminal networks across the country. It also urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and actionable intelligence.
