diving back into the shimmering waters of ’s taba with a new video for “nami” ♒︎♒︎♒︎

captured by satomi on a bustling beach full of people digging for seashells, the visual accompaniment for nami channels satori’s ongoing fascination with the subtle connections between our inner lives and the environment around us. each ripple traces the delicate lines between the personal and the universal, the internal and the external, the observed and the felt

“’nami’ means waves, and i tried to capture the sudden waves arising within myself from various angles. i put my iphone in a plastic bag and submerged it in the sea to see what would be caused by the uncontrollable natural waves”

available now for your viewing pleasure, the self-directed video offers another window into the lush, textured world satomi has crafted with taba ⋆.˚ ⋆。𖦹˙.°

“impulse array” is the next interval of extended field, the intergenerational frkwys collaboration between veteran minimalist composer and avant-rock heavies △□○

a woozy sonic warp of justly intoned synthesis and saxophone, “impulse array” is a collision of dreyblatt’s aerated, ear-pricking sequences and guest percussionist ’s shaker patterns with max eilbacher’s () bass churn and owen gardner’s (.en.gardner) slashing guitar

collectively tracing a path through the tuning matrix that has long directed dreyblatt’s music, the musicians glide across a changing, challenging array of sound which gardner describes as a “progression strangely evocative of a bach chorale both highly directed and without a goal”

horse lords and arnold dreyblatt’s frkwys vol. 18: extended field arrives november 21, 2025 in vinyl and digital editions. available now for pre-order via the rvng webstore and

around the turn of the ‘80s, a vast tape-trading network took shape, emerging as a sprawling community that transcended any boundaries of continent and nation. this underground teemed with humble artists and unrecognized visionaries, who relied on the postal service to circulate their homespun works across oceans and borders ╰╮╰╮╰╮

among the countless creations that flowed through this stream was ramarimba, the playful project from suffolk-based, self-taught musician robert cox. operating out of a tiny seaside bungalow overflowing with wires and equipment, cox explored the world of minimalism from far outside of its “high-art” confines

squeezing as much sound as possible from a trusty sony walkman and an array of instruments carefully perched on handmade plywood platforms, cox crafted a fully contained sonic world, brimming with playful textures, hypnotic patterns, and boundless diy creativity

in 2018, embarked on their first catalog wide deep dive into an artist’s career, compiling 1983’s below the horizon, 1984’s on dry land, 1985’s in the woods, and 1988’s previously unreleased compilation light metabolism number prague to create the rimarimba collection. the collection stands as a testament to cox’s musical ingenuity, and to the hidden treasures of this underground community ╰╮╰╮╰╮

following up his juno-award nominated debut record volume i, canada based composer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer mathieu david gagnon gently drew inspiration from the majestic landscapes and rugged terrain adorning his native quebec. the water of its serene, sparkling rivers quickly became the guiding current of his compositions: “i made a sketch of waves one day and hung it prominently on the wall. that was the force behind my creation, my sandbox”

this dialogue with coursing waters ultimately cultivated the eight works comprising volume ii, a sublime voyage into pastoral environments and tender emotion. wielding an assortment of 1960s / 70s synthesizers, a fifteen-piece string orchestra, and an eight-piece clarinet ensemble, gagnon employs his signature, bach-inspired approach of reframing a single melody across a series of works

the result is a technicolor palette of sound that extracts complexity from simplicity / depth from restraint / beauty from repetition. released in collaboration with , volume ii stands as an undeniable testament to flore laurentienne’s ever-evolving vision

welcoming your weekend with a look back on one year of oliver coates’ () throb, shiver, arrow of time 💢❄️🏹⌛

while working on charlotte wells’ triumphant 2022 film , the visionary director asked coates how music might signal that one is traversing through the corridors of their memory. this question struck a chord with coates, eventually forming the heartbeat that pulses and circulates throughout his fifth solo full-length collection of music

delicately constructed over six years, throb, shiver, arrow of time unfurls around recollections and misremembrances, tracing what coates describes as the “inaccurate transmissions from our memories, overlaid with emotions from other sources”

though deeply anchored in memory, tsaot emerges as an evolution of coates’ sonic terrain. its ten compositions amplify the familiar metallic anatomy and viscous string modulations of his previous record skins n slime, expanding coates’ sculptural approach to sound into a kaleidoscopic, deeply textured realm

while olly remains busy as can be with new music, most recently / notably helping construct the world of ’s blurrr, we remain entranced with last year’s addition to his undeniable catalog

bing & ruth’s tomorrow was the golden age turns 11 🪞

in 2014, composer and pianist gathered the ever-evolving minimalist ensemble of bing & ruth to record their third full length album. inspired by the indeterminate music of morton feldman and , moore centered his compositional process around the concept of fundamental contrasts: “i wanted to take something from the darkness to the light and observe what that process would result in”

formed in the mid-aughts among music student friends at new york city’s new school, bing & ruth’s lineup has continually shifted with each recording, while remaining gently shaped by moore’s radiant melodies and untethered textures. across these formations, a quiet numerical pattern guides the ensemble’s evolution. from eleven players on city lake to seven on tomorrow was the golden age, five on no home of the mind to three on species, these configurations chart a deliberate refinement of the ensemble’s sound in almost entirely prime numbers

“pointe nimbus”, david’s first solo piano release, represents the culmination of this steady distillation, where the sonorous palette of bing & ruth’s catalog condenses and crystallizes into its most intimate expression. listen now, and stay close for more from moore 🩰
