📢 See What Your Peers Are Reading!

🧠 "Brain Age Acceleration on MRI Due to Poor Sleep: Associations, Mechanisms, and Clinical Implications" by Eman A. Toraih et al. from Upstate Medical University, Suez Canal University, Ochsner Clinic Foundation and Northern Border University

📌 Poor sleep—like waking often at night or irregular sleep cycles—could age your brain by up to 3 years, even after controlling for other health risks, yet there’s real hope that improving sleep could reverse some of that effect, making it a practical place to start protecting long-term brain health.

📢 See What Your Peers Are Reading!

🧠 "Resting-State EEG Power and Aperiodic Activity in Individuals with Mild Cognitive Impairment and Cognitively Healthy Controls" by Teresa S. Warren et al. from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Illinois State University and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base

📌 What’s interesting in this EEG study is that while overall brainwave patterns didn’t differ much between MCI and healthy older adults, a flatter "background noise" slope (the 1/f slope) actually tracked with worse verbal fluency in healthy controls—hinting that we might get better clues about cognition by looking separately at the brain’s rhythmic signals and its underlying neural noise.
