Moon Junit. Wordless lo-fi tales from rural life: Moon Junit tells them with nothing more than guitar, drum machines, and synths.

Behind the moniker is producer and multi-instrumentalist Martin Schenker (of Alois, Jon Hood, Softlander, among others). Perhaps a kind of Swiss version of Bibio, John Fahey, or Durutti Column. Perhaps a secret sports fan who transforms childhood memories into sonic dreams. And certainly guitar music that is as mystical as it is touching, blending ambient, folk, and bossa nova —a kind of déja-vu music that evokes long-forgotten moods and lost memories.

From the earth to the moon and back.

The tracks on Mania Mania are a collection of pieces revolving – sometimes directly, sometimes associatively – around the theme of madness. While staying playful and eclectic.

While Lukas Marty tickles his analog equipment through a tangle of cables, slam poet Lara Stoll sings her lyrics into the microphone with sensitivity and power.

«While our eyes remain fixed on currently more visible crises with caution, and much of our attention lies with the countless civilians standing amidst the ruins of their lives, the release of our new song «RED» speaks to an earlier chapter of ongoing violence inflicted upon the people.» – Stefanie Stauffacher

The slowly ploughing track «RED» was created out of a very similar feeling of helplessness and powerlessness: in response to the brutal repression exercised by patriarchal structures, particularly in Iran and Afghanistan, and at the same time in solidarity with the «Woman, Life, Freedom» movement. At its core, the song denounces the madness of ANY regime that maintains its power through oppression and is willing to walk over dead bodies to do so.

«Because we do not want to profit from this extremely serious matter, we have decided to donate all proceeds from this song as well as the fee from our next gig to humanitarian organizations. In this regard, we have chosen to collaborate with «Verein Welle», an organization committed to supporting victims, upholding human rights and freedom, and advancing progress in Iran.» – Stefanie Stauffacher

In about 23 minutes, the sound of «REvolution» moves through styles ranging from film scores to minimal music, jazz, chamber music, and even prog rock. Pink Floyd, Queen, as well as Henry Mancini and Keith Jarrett come to mind, while a moving voice weaves through and evokes comparisons to Kate Bush, Annie Lennox, and Jenny Hval. Like a sound sculptor, operazioni shapes these influences, enriched by the depth of her vita. Added to this are inspirations from art, acting, and design.

REvolution forms a genre-fluid opera of nature. It is the debut of a world explorer who transcends boundaries in every aspect of life and navigates the intersections. Fittingly, the ambiguous title of the album reflects this: standing for Revolution, for the possibility of a renewed evolution, and for the completion of a cycle.
